4 – 6 Month Menu
Print
Of course, if you have an infant that is getting close to starting solids, you have heard which foods are the best to start with. But just in case you haven’t heard here is a list of beginner foods that are good starters (as always, please check with your child’s pediatrician because every kid is different).
This was the menu I used for my son’s first month:
Potatoes

Doctors encourage you to test each food for at least 3 days before trying a new one (for allergy reasons). I made the 9 foods listed above (every 3 days gives you 27 days) for the first month.

My 2nd is turing 6 mths this week, so I was excited to find your site through $5 dinners! But when I tried to click on the specifics of this post, all I got was a Word Press error that reads “You do not have permission to preview drafts.” Any advice?
Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully we have fixed the problem. Try it again and let us know if it works for you.

I got the same response as Talmidat
I hate that you guys are having problems viewing the menu…please remember that this is new to us also (since the site has been up for only a week) and we are still working out all the bugs. Please know that we are trying to figure it out so please please come back soon to check – don’t give up on us too quickly : )!

this is so cool! i hope i have the time and energy to keep up! my little man is getting ready to start foods in a couple of weeks… and this option is more budget friendly that buying jars. thank you! thank you! thank you!
when I click on quanities purchased and cost it says I don’t have permission to view the draft =(
are potatoes a food I should be giving my 5 month old? I would think squash might be a better choice… I’m still learning this and thanks for all of the wonderful ideas!!!!
A 5 month old can eat potatoes and squash. If you don’t feel comfortable with potatoes than give them squash. Potatoes are bland and typically many babies like the blandness of them as a first food. My son, didn’t like them alone but mixed in with other veggies, he gobbled them up. But of course if you have concerns please speak with you child’s pediatrician : ).
The link above for specifics – when you click on it, it says “You do not have permission to preview drafts”. Please help!
I just found your website through the BlogLuxe Awards – awesome awesome! I’ve made my baby girl’s food since she started eating solids, but I love that you do it monthly. That’s something I’ll have to try now that she’s 7 months and on to more food groups!
Trying to find the grocery list and instructions for the 4-6 month baby food menu
Do all of these foods freeze well and if so for how will they last.
We don’t put items on our menus that we believe won’t freeze well. As for time, here is a great post we have to answer that very question: http://onceamonthmom.com/how-to-freeze-and-store-baby-foo/
Could you put up the potato recipe? It’s gone now.
It is in the documents.
This is a wonderful site. My son just turned 4mo, and I’m looking forward to starting some real foods.
The amounts and Cost link won’t pull up. It says I don’t have permission!
