7 Healthy 100 Calorie Snack Ideas

Since one way to succeed on a diet is to eat every 3 to 4 hours, I thought you might appreciate a list of healthy snacks to incorporate into your daily meal plan. Each month I’ll give you a list of snack options that will be friendly to your waistline and your wallet. And since 100 calorie snacks seem to be all in the grocery isles right now, 100 calorie snack options seem like a good place to start.

7 Healthy 100 Calorie Snack Ideas

An Orange

1 large orange (3-1/16” diameter)

Oranges are in-season in January so they should be one of the least expensive fruit options at the farmers market or grocery store. A large orange has just under 100 calories.

1 cup broccoli and 1 cup cauliflower dipped in 2 tablespoons hummus

Broccoli and cauliflower are both in-season and are very filling for the amount of calories. 2 cups of raw veggies eaten with 2 tablespoons of hummus is a great snack. If you’re not so sure about trying hummus, you could go with the old stand-by of light ranch dressing.

Celery dipped in 1 tablespoon reduced-fat peanut butter

Sometimes a little stick-to-your-ribs peanut butter is just what you need to make it to the next meal! You could even put a few raisins on it to feel like a kid eating “ants on a log”!

2 hard-boiled egg whites with 1 oz part-skim mozzarella cheese

This snack is so simple, yet so good. Melt the cheese over the egg whites and top with a little sea salt and fresh ground pepper for an easy, tasty snack.

1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese topped with sections from a large grapefruit

Grapefruit has minimal calories so it’s great by itself. However, this snack will stick with you longer and fill you up if you eat a small portion of protein-paced cottage cheese with it.

18 Pistachios

Since it takes a while to shell each pistachio before you eat it, your snack time won’t fly by.

Banana

Banana’s are always in season and inexpensive so it’s a perfect portable snack to have on hand for about 120 calories.

What are your favorite 100 calorie snacks?
