Apple Pie Pork Chops
When I first shared this with a reader she got a little flipped out because she thought we were baking pork inside a pie. {Giggle, giggle}. I suppose one *might* think that based on the title but that is definitely not the case here.
I got this idea one night when I was trying to use up items in my freezer in order to clear space for my next cooking day. I had an apple pie kit and a some pork chops in my freezer and they just seemed like a perfect combination. It turns out I was right!

Ingredients:
- 8 cups apples, peeled & sliced
- .75 cups sugar
- 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- .5 teaspoons ground cloves
- .5 teaspoons ground allspice
- 1.5 pounds pork chops
Directions:
Place pork chops in the bottom of a slow cooker. In a separate gallon zippered bag place all of the ingredients except the pork chops. Mix. Once mixed, dump on top of pork chops in the slow cooker. Cook on LOW 6-8 hour or HIGH 3-4 hours.
Freezing Directions:
Add all ingredients except the pork chops to a ziploc bag. Squish this around so that the apples get coated and the spices get mixed around. Add pork chops to the mix (1.5 lbs per bag) or freeze them in a separate gallon bag. Then put this in the freezer. To serve: Thaw both bags (apples and pork chops). Place all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on LOW 6-8 hour or HIGH 3-4 hours.
Servings: 4

24 cups of apples??? How many apples is this? That sounds insane to measure.
Is that 24 cups of apples cored and sliced? I am thinking not, but wondering how many cups it really is.
Thank you
Should that say 2-4 cups apples? 24 seems a bit high!
Great story about how this recipe came about. Apple pie mix + pork and voila! Thanks for linking up to No Whine Wednesday!
Tricia,
This sounds intriguing to me, but I think you have the wrong amount of apples for 1.5 lb pork. 24 cups of apples is a lot!
Ha ha, you are right! Oh my! That is a quad batch! I’ll change that right now!

I just made this tonight and it was AMAZING! Like coming home to dessert for dinner! I doubled the recipe (except for the cloves), I used 5 medium apples and I subbed all splenda for the sugar. The 8 pork chops, plus the topping came to 273 calores a portion. Very nice! Thank you!
Hello! i am wondering if you blanch your fruits and veggies before storing in freezer for the crock pot recipes. I cant wait to give this a try! oh and i love the blog, i just found it and bookmarked you!
I do not. I just throw them in the bag an freeze. They usually aren’t in the freezer for a long period of time so they are okay.
I have a large crockpot. What size did you use? Cook times vary based on crockpot size. Don’t want to burn 1.5lb of yummy pork chops! :-/
I used a 6 quart slow cooker so I think you will be just fine with these cook times.
Thanks so much, Tricia! :-) I will be trying these tomorrow!
You won’t be sorry. :)
* I have a 7 quart crock pot
Thanks for your receipes……we had the Applepie pork chops today! They were so good….I did use Splenda . Never liked pork that much but will make this again!
Just curious approx how many apples will yield 8 cups? Can’t wait to try this out!
We usually estimate that 1 apple = 1 cup. So you are looking at about 8 apples.
Saw this today and had the ingredients so tried this for dinner. Amazing! Will put on regular meal rotation for sure!

Probably a silly question but…
Do the pork chops go in the bag raw or should they be cooked already?
Place them in raw.
Bone in pork chops or boneless?
Either. I usually use boneless.
Prob a dumb question but do you not need any liquid in the crock pot? maybe a little bit of water or apple juice?
Not with this recipe. The apples will produce enough of their own liquid, especially if they have been frozen.
Made these today – they are Soooo good! My husband ( a picky eater) wanted to clean the kid’s plates ;) We will be making these again and keeping a few in the freezer too. Thanks for the recipe!
I agree. :) Glad you family liked them.
