Baby Food: Chicken, Peas and Quinoa
If you haven’t tried making your 9-12 month old babies food, here is a simple recipe to get started. Combining the protein-packed goodness of quinoa, with the simple flavors of peas and chicken, this will soon become your baby’s favorite meal! By pureeing to the texture and consistency for your own baby’s needs, this recipe is customisable to the changing eating needs of you little one.
Chicken, Peas and Quinoa
- 0.5 pounds chicken breast, boneless skinless, chopped
- 1.5 cups frozen peas
- 1 cup quinoa, cooked according to package directions
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 0.5 cups applesauce
Preheat oven to 350F. Place chicken, peas, applesauce and garlic salt in baking dish. Cover and bake 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Place baked chicken and peas mixture in blender and add quinoa. Blend until desired consistency is reached, adding water if necessary.
Transfer mixture to a non-freezer gallon bag. Cut a small hole in the bottom corner of the bag and use it to pour/squeeze the purees into ice cube trays. DO NOT OVERFILL. Only fill each cube up to the sides and not overflowing the sides. Cover each tray with aluminum foil and label. Freeze for at least 24 hours before transferring to quart or gallon freezer bags for long-term storage.
Servings: 16 cubes
