This month’s menu is sponsored by Step2. Did you know studies show that kids’ overall health and academic potential are improved when they exercise and engage in creative play? Check out Step2’s line of toddler toys.

In my house, as in most of yours, school’s out for the summer.  This means that I have to do a lot more preplanning of meals and snacks to make my days less hectic. This menu, although still geared towards toddlers, is also great for any age child in your family. The hope is that you would prepare these meals for you kids so that you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the outdoors.

The Baby & Toddler Food menu is designed for you to make life feeding your baby/toddler homemade food a little easier. We are not pediatricians, please seek counsel from them on timing, allergies and food sensitivities. These menus are simply designed for ease of parents and not necessarily adhere to dietary guidelines. If you are new and not sure how to get started we have a wonderful series starting with 5 easy steps to get you on your way to once a month cooking. Good luck!

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Lisa Brown – is a stay at him mom of 3 little boys ages 1,2 and 4.  Meal times is when she works on many social skills, so it she says it is nice having a quick and healthy meal ready so they can all eat together.

I’ve never looked at this menu before, but what fun food suggestions.

Just made this menu tonight! Made everything except for the pretzels and the tuna (the tuna mixture is sitting in my fridge until I can pick up mayo tomorrow).

Everything went great except for the noodle pancakes. They were terrible, never formed into pancakes. After the fifth try with the mixture stuck to the bottom and not formed as a pancake I decided to cook it all at once and portion it out afterward. I followed the directions completely so I’m wondering what went wrong. I even tried three different pans.

It all (except the 2 recipes) took me about 6 1/2 hours. I also spent just under $140.00 at the grocery store. I needed almost everything except for a few spices.

Thank you for making everything so easy. I’ll be looking for the next 12+ month menu. Although, I think I’ll use a previous menu next month.

Can’t wait to try this one! Any chance of getting an “elementary school-age” menu up? I would love easy things I could pull from the freezer and send to school in the kiddos lunches.

This seems like a great idea, I just wish the menu was a little bit more nutritious. It seems to be seriously lacking in veggies. Maybe the next 18+ menu?
