Toddler Food 12-18 Month January 2012 Menu
I am really excited to share the first toddler menu with you. The setup of this menu is slightly different than the other OAMM menus. On the menu I have included breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for toddlers. In our house, I prepare dinner for the whole family and the little ones are offered whatever we are eating. However, breakfast and lunch are usually different because I either send food with them to daycare, or prepare lunch for them at home. The lunch recipes could also be prepared as a dinner item for your toddler if the meal you are serving is not something they can eat. Each of these recipes has been tested and approved by my own toddlers, so I hope your toddlers enjoy them also!

Test Cooks
Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! Here is a little bit about this month’s test cook:
- Jessie Bode – I am a SAHM to two daughters – a 5 year old and almost 1 year old. My girls love to help me in the kitchen (sometimes too much!) and we have a lot of fun preparing kid friendly foods together. Seems to help with the pickiness!

Im a full time working mom of a special needs 5 yr old and an active 11 yr old. I’m writing as my 5 yr old has texture issues and does not understand chewing. A lot of his food for snacks and lunch are canned do you have recipes that can help me feed him healthier foods? Chunky foods must be blended as he can take small soft chunks anything else he gags and vomits. I really really could use some help. Thanks! Mel
Mel – wow, that sounds like a real challenge! Does your son eat soups? The cheesy potato soup in this menu might work well for him.
You could also look back at some of the baby food menus for puree ideas. The 9-12 month menu: http://onceamonthmom.com/baby-food-9-12-month-fall-2011-menu/ has some good combinations that you could leave in a chunkier texture for your son.
Mel – Since I’ve never had this type of problem with my own children, I was curious about how other moms have approached this problem. So I asked our readers on Facebook if they had any suggestions.

Looks like some great feedback so far and I hope you find it helpful!
Thank you I will sign into my fb and reply as many of those suggestions we have tried. I will also look at your other link too for foods. Thank you do much!!!
I love these ideas! I’ve got a 19-month-old and I must say that breakfast and lunch are my most difficult meals as far as keeping things interesting and coming up with new ideas. Thanks so much for offering a toddler meal plan this month! =)
I would say that breakfast and lunch are my most difficult meals as well. So glad that you are finding this menu helpful!
OMG!!! THANK YOU!!! I love having more recipes to try in addition to the ones in the ebook!!!
Oh thank you! Breakfast and lunch are my hardest meals for my kids since I eat a lot of salads, which they don’t particularly care for. I’m very excited to see a toddler menu for kids who are a little older! Dare I hope that this will become a regular feature? Thank you again so much!
Sarah – yes, this will be a regular feature on the site. I will be rotating between toddler and baby food menus to keep a good variety.
Hi thanks for the great ideas…my daughter isn’t a toddler anymore (9yr old actually), but it’s a struggle to find lunch and snack ideas for her lunch box. She loved the ham and potato burgers as a quick lunch with carrot sticks and grapes! We try not send sandwiches everyday so your ideas are great to switch up her menu!
Thank you so much for posting a toddler menu! It is so convenient to pull a prepared meal or snack from the freezer. My 3 year old son is not a picky eater and I love finding new recipes! He helped me make the frozen yogurt fruit cups before nap time and is looking forward to trying them when he wakes up. Thank you for thinking of this age group! I can’t wait to see what else you post!
Love this toddler menu, and I don’t even have toddlers. The breakfast items are wholesome, delicious and kid friendly — perfect for my older kids.
this looks like a great menu for my kids. our baby will be 1 in two weeks and our 3.5 year old would like some of these items. how long do you think we could keep things in our freezer off this menu? daycare provides breakfast and lunch but the kids don’t always eat what we are having for dinner.
Meals vary in length they stay good, check out this post – http://onceamonthmom.com/get-started-how-long-do-meals-last/
