Back-To-School Giveaway Bonanza: Dell Inspiron R Laptop
Disclosure: I did not receive a Dell Inspirion R 14-inch laptop to review as a part of this giveaway, I did receive one to facilitate this giveaway that you have a chance to win. The opinions in this post are my own. All the opinions in this post are mine, want to know more about how I facilitate review, view my full disclosure policy!
Today is the day you have all been waiting for, the first Back-To-School Giveaway! I am so excited to tell you that each of the 12 blogs, including this one, are giving away a Dell Inspirion R 14-inch laptop. You heard that right! 12 Laptops!
The Dell Inspirion R laptops are versatile and easy to use. They are smaller and built to be durable whether using them at school or at home. I use my laptop for everything from writing blog posts to searching and cooking recipes. So the laptop has to be durable.
And as we are thinking about back to school, don’t forget that it is ALWAYS important to make sure that you are staying on top of protecting your children on line. If you haven’t discussed online rules and policies with your children lately, maybe now would be a good time to revisit that issue. Did you know that almost 93% of teens use the Internet, yet 63% of them know how to hide what they’re doing online from their parents (McAfee and Harris Interactive).
Here are a few ideas for increasing online security with your children from :
1) Protect Your Family’s Personal Info – Families today need comprehensive security protection. McAfee Security Center from Dell features McAfee Active Protection™ technology which instantly analyzes and blocks new threats in milliseconds so there’s no dangerous gaps in protection.
2) Hall Monitors are Needed – Parents should always monitor children’s use of the Internet. Consider using a family protection software, which lets adults say “yes” to children’s online interests. It keeps children of all ages safe from exposure to inappropriate content, social networking risks, strangers, and other online threats.
3) Don’t Talk to Strangers -Teach kids to ignore emails and instant messages from people they don’t know.
4) Kid-Customized - Use browsers for kids such as Kidzui and kid-oriented search engines such as Yahooligans! (www.yahooligans.com), Ask Jeeves Kids (www.ajkids.com), and Kids Click! (www.kidsclick.org.)
5) Nothing is “Free” – Remind children to avoid free downloads like screensavers, surveys and online club registrations as these “freebies” can include hidden spyware and adware programs.
6) Teamwork is the Key – Work with your child to discuss boundaries of what is appropriate and what isn’t. Sign a pledge together to ensure ultimate protection. You will find an example pledge here.
7) Monitor Time – Set time limits for online surfing and ban late-night use.
8) Start a Conversation – Encourage children to talk about bad experiences they are having and if something makes them feel uncomfortable.
9) Don’t Make Play Dates – Make sure tweens and teens know to never have an in-person meeting with anyone they met online.
