I started a series of posts called the “Best of the Best” series to identify the favorite recipes from Once A Month Mom from 2009. I have already highlighted breakfasts and lunches, now it is time for dinners. The following are the top three favored dishes from each month as communicated by Once A Month Mom cooks. This is a great resource for those of you looking for dinner ideas.
If you are planning on making one or two of these you can make the single recipe by clicking through the recipe link or if you are looking for the recipe card for making bulk batches and freezing, simply click on the month’s menu link and proceed to the “printable X menu” (X=month) where you can print that recipe card.
March
- Mexican Stuffed Shells (unstuffed)
- Mandarin Orange Chicken
- Shrimp with Roasted Peppers and Feta** (link no longer available – check printable menu card from March for the recipe)

- No Fuss Chicken Cordon Bleu**
June
- Layered Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Thanks so much for compiling these lists. Makes it much easier for those of us with lots of little ones tugging at our shirts wanting to know what’s for dinner!
I came across your site from Amy in Ohio (we went to college together!) and love this idea. I’m actually going to try it in a few weeks for a friend as a “baby gift” (she’s having a baby next week). While she doesn’t need a full menu, having dinners planned out will be helpful–so this list is a great place to start! Thanks!!
Welcome! I love Amy in Ohio! And what a great gift to your friend that is expecting. Please feel free to ask questions. Or recruit Amy to help you.
I’m new to your site and am very interested in trying your approach to cooking for my busy family. Thank you for compiling this list – it’s a great tool for those of us who are just getting started.
How could you not have the Chicken Marsala from September on here? That’s our favorite!
Several of the links seem to be broken.
I’ll check on that!
Several of the recipes seem to no longer be available on their respective sites. Sorry. I suppose that is what happens in time. You can always go to the printable recipe cards from the indicated month’s menu to find the OAMC version of that dish.
Thanks, Tricia. I’ve come and lurked at your site many times in the last several months but still haven’t started. I want to try out 1 or 2 recipes before I jump into a month’s worth. Do you have any suggestions for good first attempts? Especially for picky eaters (toddlers)? I love how organized your site is and all the menus are!!
Oh, the possibilities are endless. This post is definitely a great place to start. There is also a post on my most popular recipe posts too – perhaps check that out too. It depends on what your kids are picky about.
