Blogs you should visit: Part 4

I am going to just keep it simple this week since I am just back from vacation and am still trying to catch up on wifely duties. I am only going to highlight one site this week because I think that this website stands apart from all others that I subscribe to. It is just THAT good.

When I had my first child over 8 months ago I was certain that I wanted to do Babywise. I had friends that did it and loved it. I watched as other parents parented and I was most impressed and pleased with what I saw from Babywise parents. Most of all, after talking with my husband, it fit with our self-proclaimed parenting style. So I read up all I could.

Then the baby came! Oh, how difficult it was to figure out what to do. The book is filled with great philosophies and approaches but where were the how-to’s? There were so many things that I wanted to do do but wasn’t sure how to achieve them.

Then a friend pointed out this fabulous website: Chronicle of a Babywise Mom! HALLELUJAH! This woman is AMAZING! Really, she should get a book deal. She has way more helpful scenarios and how-to’s than all the Babywise books combined. She was a God send.

She recently just had a third baby and is chronicling the steps that she is taking with this baby (all babies are different) week by week. I am so glad and know that I will get so much use out of this site when I have another baby (not that I haven’t already).

As it stands, I still use the site daily as I have questions about my sons growth stages, nap transitions and scheduling changes. I just looked up 45 minute naps the other day and was hopeful about the short naps my son had started to take. Sure enough, just like the site said, he was back to longer naps as soon as his new found love of crawling wore off (and his ear infection cleared up). Now he is right back to normal!

So if you ever thought of doing Babywise, I HIGHLY recommend this site. If you are wavering and aren’t sure what you want to do, I HIGHLY recommend this site. If you don’t have kids and don’t care about raising babies, I DON’T recommend this site.

If you think that Babywise is a crazy trend that is absurd, you are definitely entitled to your opinion as well. As for me and my house, we LOVE it. But every method doesn’t work for every family and I do respect families no matter their chosen family style.

To the author of Chronicles of a Babywise Mom (I can’t find her name). My apron strings off to you! You have an amazing site and have saved my husband hours of needless crying (not from the baby, from me).

    LOVELOVELOVE this website.

  3. We did Babywise as well for all of ours except one…I tell people who disagree, just take the 80% that works and use it. Throw the 20% that you hate out and do what works for you. All my kids slept through the night early – EXCEPT for the one where we didn’t implement a “flexibe” schedule. :) I am all about the baby fitting into my schedule, not the other way around.
