Bound to Panama City Beach, Florida!

beachFriday we are off to Florida! We are so excited! The forecast shows that the weather isn’t actually much warmer there than here at this point, but my husband says anywhere with a beach is much better than Ohio, no matter the weather.

We are vacationing with Cortney and her family so this should be quite the trip! We are attempting to be frugal with this vacation and have rented a large beach house together and figure that we can shop some of the local grocery sales and save money by cooking our own dinners. We are even taking a few Once A Month Mom meals with us, packed in dry ice, to save a little money.

We are also excited because we are planning on having some great evening fun. We have talked that since we are vacationing in the same house, one night Cortney and her husband can go out, one night my husband and I can go out, one night we can have a girls night and one night the men can have a boys night! FUN!

So here is the question for the rest of you. Have you ever been to the Panama City Beach, Florida area or do you currently live there? Do you have suggestions for things that we should make sure that we do while we are there? Which grocery store should we shop at? Or frugal tips for keeping our vacation costs low? We would love to hear them!

(And so you don’t get too worried about the Once A Month Mom website, know that we will be keeping up with things. We have some great guest posts planned (so that we can catch some fun at the beach). We will take some time each weekend to scour the store ads and still bring you the weekly sales breakdown.

You need to shop at Publix. Seriously. The Best Grocery Store in Florida. Really… Check out their website for deals. Happy Traveling!

Can any one come pack for me, please!? Can’t wait to get on the road and hang out with my favorite people!!

  3. If they do have Publix (we do in Nashville), you can get great deals IF you buy stuff for B1G1 with coupons! Otherwise, for us, it’s a lot pricier than Kroger or Wal-Mart.

Be sure to pack plenty of snacks to eat in the car too – both for kids and uh, big kids. :) It’s much too easy to grab snacks at the gas station when you fill up – unless there are plenty in the car of course. :)

I’ve been several times. The main thing we do is stick to the beach. Although, at least once during each trip we like to hit a mini-golf place, they are much more colorful and unique than ours.
Have fun! We rented a condo for our last Disney World trip and had a blast.

We went several years ago, and let me tell you, THE BEST SEA SHELL FINDS EVER! They were dredging the gulf when we were there. (Lots of sea weed!) But GREAT sea shells! We found several LARGE Conch shells, and lots of sand dollars. Some of the shells, the people were offering us money for. One guy who owned a shop there offered us $150 bucks for the biggest shell! WOW! But, then I didn’t realize that we could use that money. Now, we have the shells, they are beautiful, we are broke, and we still have our memories.

We were just in Inlet Beach this summer and our favorite adult night is to drive to Destin and eat at Louisiana Laginappe. Awesome food. I’m not sure if we had a reservation or not, but we never miss a chance to eat there when we’re close. Have a great week.

I’ve been several times. Rock-it-Lanes is pretty fun…bowling, rollerskating, pool tables, and arcade. Google it for coupons.
