Celebrate Jen – 4tunate $4 Friends
I had the fortune of meeting Jen from 4tunate.net last February at Blissdom. I was first introduced to her when her husband created the fabulous Frugal Map for Bargain Briana. I only had a short time to chat with her but after Blissdom she became an honorary #sisterchick too and I became friends with her through hours and hours of Skype conversations.
Lately, I have spent much of my quiet times praying for her and her family. In a heartfelt chat online, myself and several others bathed her in prayer as she was experiencing a particularly difficult day as a wife, mother and daughter. It was an amazing time and her dedication and Godliness has struck a cord with me.
Recently, she and her family have experienced some trying times.
Her family was riddled with illness. Can you imagine trying to take care of 4 toddler boys while you weren’t feeling well? (Maybe you have and know the feeling.) Her mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer, potentially progressive breast cancer. They wait for news on what is next. And it was discovered that her father is having a relapse with prostate cancer.
We all experience tough times. Perhaps you are going through them right now yourself. And when your friends have gathered around you with prayers, support and encouragement you know the uplifting effects it has on your life.
So in honor of Jen, and in an effort to lift her up and encourage her in true bloggy world style, the #sisterchicks (and we hope you that are friends with her) will join us for 4 days of celebrating Jen! Our goal is to bath her in prayer, shower her with love and encouragement and give her some resources to provide meals to her family so that she can use her precious time and energy caring for her family instead of worrying about them!
Starting this morning and continuing through Thursday (7/1) at Midnight we are doing a $4 donation drive to fill Jen’s kitchen with food! We figure we may not be able to lend a real shoulder to cry on or bring a warm meal to her doorstep personally, but at least we can provide a meal virtually! In true OAMM fashion, we have enlisted a fellow Hoosier that is going to take toddler friendly meals to Jen and her family. We have also found a nearby freezer food preparation place that will bring them ready to cook meals.
How can you participate? If you know Jen or identify with her story consider donating $4, sending up 4 prayers in her name or leaving 4 encouraging comments at her site. Also, if you blog about this campaign, be sure to link up your story about how much you love Jen too! And if you tweet be sure to use the hashtag #4tunate.
As a fellow mom (or human) you know how much the little things add up to BIG encouragement in the midst of trying times. That is what we want to do. Lift Jen up! I hope you will consider joining us!
