Dairy Free Ranch Dressing
Print
I have always enjoyed ranch dressing. It is my favorite salad dressing but I also enjoy it with many other dishes. In the beginning, I gave up dairy while nursing my daughter and I didn’t know how I would survive without ranch dressing. The non-dairy ranch dressing that is bottled and sold in stores just does not compare to true ranch dressing. I have to say that this version is delicious and is enjoyed by every member of my family!
Even if you’re not dairy free, you can substitute this mix in the following recipes that call for Ranch Dressing mix:
- Slow Cooked Buffalow Chicken
- Toddler Chicken Bites (make it into dressing first)
- Cheddar Ranch Burgers
- Veggie Pizza
- Taco Soup
Dairy Free Ranch Dressing

Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
Add all of the spices together and stir. Store in a jar or bag. To make dressing: Beat 1 Tablespoon of mix with 1/3 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 cup dairy free milk.

If you add mayo to it, it is no longer dairy free as mayo has EGGS in it. You would have to use a mayo substitute.
I agree with Bridgett, if eggs are problematic for you replace it with vegan mayonnaise. I hope you enjoy!
I grew up on a farm. For eggs to be considered DAIRY the chickens would need to have mammary glands. Eggs are not a dairy product. They are an animal by product and the title just says this dressing is dairy free.
Eggs may be in the dairy case at the grocery store, but they are NOT dairy, because dairy only comes from the milk glands of mammals.
Try vegenaise (http://www.followyourheart.com/products/category/vegenaise/) instead of mayonnaise for it to be completely dairy free.
Eggs are not dairy.

Yes thank you Tanya. We have talked about this in our get real series as well http://onceamonthmom.com/get-real-eggs-revisited/
Oh my this is wonderful! I can’t thank you enough. I am both dairy and egg free for my little guy with allergies. I used vegenaise in place of mayo. This is the first thing I’ve made or purchased that actually satisfies my ranch dressing craving.
Does anyone know how long this will keep in the refrigerator? My 8 year old son will be SO excited about this recipe!
I would say 3-5 days.
Thank you for this recipe, it is delicious and easy to make and a lifesaver as I love to eat fresh raw vegetables as a healthy snack but can no longer have dairy and need something yummy for dipping. If anyone is interested in making homemade mayonnaise and have a food processor, here’s a link to a recipe for that: http://www.drbenkim.com/recipesmayonnaise.html
thanks again,
Lori
I’ve made this dressing twice now and both times it’s come out very thin, almost like water…is it because I used regular milk?? Any suggestions!? (Otherwise VERY delicious!)
Maybe try just adding a Tablespoon at a time of the milk until your desired consistency is reached.
Thanks i’m going to try this!
Made the vegan version tonight and found that 1 tablespoon of milk (soy) was just enough to make it a true dressing consistency. Thanks for providing my dairy/egg allergic son a nice alternative to regular ranch dressing!
What kind of non-dairy milk do you find works the best? I have coconut milk in my house – sweetened and non-sweetened. Thoughts? I also use veganaisse – FYI my husband says that veganaisse tastes the same as mayo.
I personally use soy milk for this dressing. Since we are trying to get this as close to true Ranch dressing as possible I like to stick with the milk that is the closest in flavor and consistency. Whatever milk you are going to use, I would definitely use the unsweetened and unflavored.
