I just finished my first once a month cookathon! My husband usually does all the cooking, but occasionally needs a break from his own cooking. I was a little apprehensive b/c I do NOT cook well and he can be very picky about what he eats. An hour into cooking, my husband was begging to taste the coffee cake and the Zesty Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken! He was my official taster since I seem to lose my sense of taste while I am cooking. We had the Spicy Honey Chicken on the grill last night -Yum! We also have eaten half of the coffee cakes I made. I love your blog. I have been couponing for almost two years and wanted to use more of my stockpile for our meals. I spent less than $25 on ingredients for almost a month of meals (I didn't make all of the meals and adjusted them for two people) and was able to use so much from my stockpile. I am looking forward to cooking the January menu! I have selected my recipes and am shopping for the few ingredients we don't already have. Thanks and big hugs to you!!!!

We just had our cooking day yesterday! We're so excited to eat these meals! After eliminating what my family wouldn't eat, we only made 9 meals. We don't double the recipes, but it only took us about 3.5 hours. That's a good swap for the time saved on weeknights!
And the Rigatoni was perfect to take to a friend who's father has just passed away.

Just finished today with the menu. Fabulous! And I did it so much better than last time I attempted it, instead of shopping, prepping, and cooking all in one day, I did it the way you suggested and it went much smoother. Great menu selection as well, my kids will adore this month.

Hmm, I have posted this on the menu several times now and no one else has caught that. It should be 24 buns. I made the changes on the menu and on the grocery list. Thanks.

I noticed that the Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken BBQ lists it as 24 servings, but only lists 16 buns in the ingredients list. I was just curious how many servings it actually makes. Thanks so much for doing this; I got a freezer, food processor, and stand mixer for Christmas, so I'm super excited to try this out :)

When we were cooking the chicken cordon bleu casserole made a lot more of the saucy stuff than we had pans for. I just looked at the original recipe and I think its because we used twice as many carrots as the recipe called for (9x13 pan called for 2 cups sliced carrots). We ended up using some frozen green beans we had and actually liked the ones with green beans better. Its not a loss that we had extra, just a note that it ended up using more. We had extra chicken breasts so we just made a few extra casseroles.

I have done half the recipes with my sister over the weekend (we are doing the rest this week) and we made one big Oops. We didn't label the cheeses after we shredded them. We tried the burrito mix that ended up with grated swiss and it wasn't especially noticeable (unless you knew it was there). So note to self: either buy already shredded cheese so the bags are labeled, or label the bowls after shredding.

Hey Tricia,
I was reading through the individual recipes tonight since my mom and I are doing our very first Baking Day tomorrow, and I noticed that the 48oz of Bottled Barbeque sauce needed for the Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken was not included on the printable grocery menu. Just thought I'd let you know! (Thankfully my mom is making one last grocery store run in the morning. I'll just have her pick it up then!)
So excited to do this!! :-)

Tricia,

I have to thank you for coming to my rescue. My son announced that although school lunch was gross, it was so much better than the same things everyday... So, I tried the "ham and potato pockets" today. They turned out fabulously. The kids loved them and they are sure to be a regular in the lunch boxes from now on. Thanks again!!

Definitely a long day (not pregnant), but well worth it! My sister-in-law and I took 12+ hours to complete a whole menu (and we had done quite a bit of the prep work the night before.

Next time, I'm going to recruit my mom to come at least for a few hours to help with washing dishes as we use them, and then we'll send some of the meals with her, too!

Either one works but I put it on the dish and freeze so I don't have an extra step later. I just noticed that on the labels the other day. I will have to update soon.

Another ?. On the chickin parm big day recipe, it says to cover dish with mozzerella cheese and then cover with foil. The recipe continues on to say when you are cooking it, put mozzerella cheese on the last 10 min ofcooking. Which is correct? I put my cheese on already. I hope that will be OK. BTW, I am loving your site!! My mom is undergoing chemo/radiation for lung cancer and has really enjoyed having her freezer stocked with food made by your recipes and I have enjoyed cooking them for her! Thanks!!!

Yep! Posts coming on this very soon! Stay tuned. . .You can also go back to each given month to see comments made under that menu or about the poll. Just type the name of the month the meal appeared in the search box and search the site.
