Are you a person that likes to see the menus visually? Perhaps you should check out the October 2012 Diet Menu via Pinterest to see the yummy goodness you will be cooking up on this menu. Not sure what Pinterest is all about, check out what Once A Month Mom has to say about it.
Test Cooks
Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:
- Amy Hanes: I have been happily married to my best friend, Wade, for eight adventurous years now. Our children are our three curious cats – Sasha, Zara and Sirius Black. I am a homemaker and enjoy cooking, baking, crocheting and reading.
- Ami Israelsen: Ami is married and has two children (16-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy). She works full time outside the home. She has been participating in a freezer meal swap for over two years and enjoys having meals ready to go. She works with Krista and is glad she was able to get Krista to join her craziness with testing the diet menu. Her sorely neglected blog is sparkyunderwraps.blogspot.com.
- (Ami’s Helper) Krista is a single mom to a 7-year-old boy. She, her son, and her brother live with her grandparents. She moved in with them three years ago to help take care of her grandmother who has experienced decreased health in the past five years. She also works full time outside the home. Ami recently roped her into swapping with her freezer meal group and then into helping her test this menu.

Absolutely love this site! Has made freezer cooking & meal planning so much easier for me. I was reviewing the recipes tonight for October and there are a couple that aren’t adjusting correctly. Pumpkin Oatmeal Cups not adjusting for number of servings entered and Sweet Potato Pancakes not adjusting when I enter 4 servings.
Thank you!
The recipes both contain eggs. Therefore, the formulas are different on them to avoid partial eggs. You will have enough of each using the cards as is for entering servings of 4.
It looks like the shrimp is in ounces instead of pounds on the chopping amount tabs ” FINAL Diet October 2012 Recipe Cards”
I put in 6 servings and the doc told me 3 ounces, it didn’t look right to me so I checked the recipe and it read 48 ounces (3 pounds).
Thanks Joanne! We have that corrected now.
Also – please post the labels as google docs. I don’t have word and I don’t need it since I use google drive for everything. thanks!
You can pull the labels into Google Docs but Google Docs will not allow us to properly set up the labels which is why they aren’t done there. It messes them up too much.
Please post the labels as .pdf. Thank you.
Another error – the amount of eggs for the turkey burgers for 6 servings said 6. It was so hard to work with, I then checked the original recipe on the eat live run site and it was 1 egg per 1 lb of turkey, not 2.
Joanne after going back and reviewing what our test cooks said they didn’t have a problem with this recipe. I will go back again and check and adjust as needed.
I absolutely love this and it has made life much easier for our family. I was wondering how feasible it would be to include the sodium content on the labels. I have a medical condition that requires me to stay under a certain amount of sodium per day and having that information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for all your hard work, this site is amazing!
Erin, it’s something that we are working towards when we create our new system but at this time it’s not part of our plan.
Stupid question – but for the Vegetarian Cassoulet recipe, do you peel the squash before cubing/roasting it???
