Do You Save More TIME or MONEY cooking Once A Month?

I was recently on the Get Real MomTv show with Real Life Sarah. One of the readers asked an interesting question. The question was: “Do you save more TIME or MONEY with once a month cooking?” Well, I know what my answer is, but I thought it was a very interesting one. I think the answer might be a bit different for us all.
So this week, I want you to weigh in on which you think it is – if you are reading this on Facebook or as an email please click over to the site and cast your vote in the right side margin. You are also welcome to leave comments below but make sure you also weigh in a vote to make it official.
And I will share my answer next week, after you have, I don’t want to skew the voting.

Before doing the once a month cooking thing… feeding my family of 6 cost about $600. a month (that includes eating out once a week). Now I spend about $150. for ingredients for 28 meals and we eat out less often because I plan ahead with these meals. I spend less time and money not going into a grocery store more than once every 8 or 9 days. And I no longer spend the better part of the day trying to figure out what to feed my family! It has been very freeing doing the Once A Month Cooking!
Great feedback. I am sure that our larger families will enjoy hearing this news. And congratulations to you on your family savings!
I don’t think I save any money, and I really try, but my husband shops with me and I think this has alot to do with it. However, it does save my sanity, because I work full time, with twin toddlers at home. It makes it so much easier to know what I’m having for dinner, and taking less time each night. And at least I feel like I get ahead, even if I don’t.
I get this question a lot too and for me it is both. I generally spend about $50 a week for a family of four on our perishable items like fruits, veggies, dairy, etc. because I have so many freezer meals ready to go…and that total includes a fair amount of organic produce and dairy. I think the last time I did a big freezer cooking session I spent about $150-$175 total and ended up with around 30 meals…not bad I’d say!
