Eat Out Without Sacrificing Your Waistline (& Giveaway)

Veggie Omelet

The New Year always brings a flurry of New Years Resolutions about staying fit, eating right and getting back into shape. I personally am not a fan of New Years Resolutions so I rarely have any of my own to strive towards. However, I did just have a baby so my waistline is forefront on my mind these days.

Recently, Bob Evans contacted me to let me know (and to let you know) that they have a new Fit from the Farm menu that began January 7th. Here are some of the features of the menu:

  • Based on an average 2,000 calorie daily allowance, all Fit from the Farm dishes have:
    • 650 calories or less
    • 750mg or less sodium
    • 35 percent or less total calories from fat
    • Less than 10 percent of total calories from saturated fats (or 1/3 or less of the recommended Daily value for
    saturated fat)
    • 0g trans fat
    • No MSG
  • The Pick-Three Breakfast Combo gives guests a choice among seven menu options to create a balanced grouping.
Other breakfast options include the fresh fruit plate with a choice of low-fat strawberry yogurt or low-fat cottage
cheese, the veggie omelet, fruit and yogurt crepe with oatmeal and blueberry banana French toast.
  • The lunch menu now offers a new Apple-Cranberry Spinach Salad (available as an entrée or savor-size portion)
served with a reduced-fat Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing. Additionally, there are three soups and six side dishes that
can be paired together to create the perfect combination. The fresh fruit plate is also available at lunch along with
Chicken, Spinach & Tomato Pasta. All lunch dishes are less than 530 calories and contain 16 or less grams of fat.
  • Dinner entrees on the Fit from the Farm menu include the Grilled Salmon Fillet, the Potato-Crusted Flounder and
Grilled Chicken Breast, all served with a baked potato (plain) and steamed broccoli florets. Drink recommendations
are also given to pair with the various dishes on the new menu, including cold or hot tea or a diet Coke, all at one
    calorie or less.

I’m not trying to lose weight at the moment (6 weeks away from having a baby), but I’m trying to maintain a healthy gain… and then I’ll be breastfeeding (which is a great help to losing baby weight…) But I’m definitely going to have to watch my snacking after the baby – that’s my downfall! Snacks are good – junk food is not. They are NOT synonymous!!

  8. Rebecca says:

My biggest thing is to stay away from all the snack foods. I think my toddler lived on those toward the end of my pregnancy. As much as they are handy, no one needs to eat fruit snacks and a cereal bar for a snack. Even though I get the all natural ones. Ironic there there are all natural no sugar added fruit snack, isn’t it.

  9. Kristi says:

I am trying to exercise more and make more foods from scratch so I can control the calories. I also have been walking to pick up my kids from school so I get 3 miles of walking in two to three days a week.

I’ve lost over 100lbs (YES, 100+) during the past year by cutting out all simple carbs, sugars, carbonation, etc. Of course, I could do this without exercising like a crazy person.
My husband and I can’t afford to eat out (darn, Medical School), so we eat a lot of tuna, chicken, lentils, beans, and green beans. We do have Bob Evan’s Restaurants near us and would love the opportunity to try them out, especially if they’re now offering a new Fit from the Farm menu. It’s nice to know that I could eat out and still stay true to my positive changes. Thanks for the heads up! In the meantime, I still have 25 more to lose. = )
