About OAMM
The History of the Blog
I began this blog in February of 2009 with my friend Cortney. We had a great time dreaming up posts, and recipes and menus. However, life can get busy sometimes and with two little ones Cortney felt it best to spend her time focused on them and less time on blogging. So after 5 months of co-blogging, it was decided that I take the reigns of the blog.
A Little About Me – Tricia
I became a SAHM in the summer of 2008 with the birth of my first son. My family grew fast from there as my second child, a girl, was born in December of 2009. I am an avid once a month cook (also referred to as OAMC, bulk cooking, power cooking and freezer cooking) who loves having food in the freezer for easy meals. I have taken this love into the baby realm and started preparing once a month baby food menus as well. I love the Lord and am so blessed to be able to stay home with my little one, to be learning how to save money, trying to make the most out of life, and doing the “chores” once a month so I can enjoy more time with my family!
Chick Chat
I needed a place to put everything that didn’t fall into somewhere else. That and I am just plain chatty! Don’t you want to hear all about how I scored the latest CVS deal, my little one’s antics, and how I am surviving in this great big world? Well this is where you are going to find it. Oh yea, and I have some great guest posters along the way too! They need a place to show their stuff!
Cooking
This side of the website will provide you with all of the information and resources for doing a once a month cooking day for your family (also known as OAMC, freezer cooking, power cooking, bulk cooking). For a list of commonly asked questions go here.
How To’s
This section includes helpful hints for approaching a Once A Month Cooking BIG DAY.
Menus
Each month I create a menu complete with 10-15 breakfasts, 10 lunches, 15 dinners for two families of four. Why this many? Read here. The menu is complete with links to the original recipes, a printable document with all of the recipes multiplied for the amount we will need on our cooking day, a grocery list for the months menu, and instructions for how to proceed on your cooking day.
If you are looking for the most recent months menu simply go the the search box in the upper right corner of the sight and type in the current month.
Recipes
All of my personal recipes, or those that are sent to me by others, are posted in this section. Feel free to look around for new menu ideas for your family.
Resources
There are a million (and one) resources for creating a successful OAMC day. I try to feed you as many as possible. Each week you will find the deals for some of the Dayton, Ohio area grocers who have items on sale on our monthly grocery list. In addition, I try to provide you pictures of what I have purchased so that you can compare your shopping adventure to ours. Do you have valuable information to share? You too can help me out by sharing deals you see in your area.
Baby Food
This side of the website will provide you with all of the information and resources for making your own baby food one month at a time.
How To’s
This section includes helpful hints for making enough baby food for your little one for an entire month.
Menus
As our babies grow through the stages of baby food we are providing monthly menus for meeting their developmental needs. I began when they were 4 months old and are building monthly menus that will provide enough food for them for an entire month. The menu is complete with links to the original recipes, a printable document with all of the recipes multiplied for the amount I will need on our cooking day, a grocery list for the months menu, and instructions for how to proceed on your cooking day.
If you are looking for the most recent months menu simply go the the search box in the upper right corner of the sight and type in the current month.
