The Grocery Shopping List ROCKS! What a time saver. One early suggestion for the shopping list for newbies who might get overwhelmed by doing all the breakfast/lunch/dinner first go round and/or those (like me) that think dinner only meal prep once a month might make most sense for my family since we work/child at school during day, is still having the overall shopping list, but then break out shopping lists for breakfast only, lunch only, and dinner only prep. Then people can pick and choose as needed…all or some. Again, shopping list is awesome, but I can definitely seeing that helping some like me out and wanted to suggest it early on as y’all get int he groove! Can’t wait to get started!
This is great! I have been freezer cooking for years and this will help me keep going.
I must say – you are one crazy woman for being able to organize all of things the way you do! The site looks wonderful – you and Ben did a fantastic job! congrats!
congratulations on this site-I am not a mom but I like the once a month cooking idea. This is way cool I think you need to be in charge of web design!!! Good luck with this endeavor.
I love the cooking section. It’s so hard to think up new menus for my family each week. The grocery list is a great idea too.
Hey everyone, just noticed that there were some issues with the February printable menu. It is functional now!
Congratulations! This is such a great site!
I’ve been OAMC for about two years now. I’ve blogged on it–and its always my quickest sidetrack when I teach. Every woman in my classes wants to know more about it!
The site looks great Tricia. I can’t wait to find a partner and try some of the menus.
I found you from $5 dinners – I am so excited!! We are expecting our first baby in April, so this blog is coming at the perfect time for me :) Thanks so much for taking the time to do all of this for us!!
Wow, this looks great. I love the step-by-step printable. I want to get started doing this, and you are making it so easy – THANKS!
I am very excited…I have been wanting to start doing this for quite some time now…I also have several of the OAM cookbooks and I even have the 30 Day Gourmet software. I just have never actaully done a cooking day yet. I hope you will insoire me to finally do this!
WOW! This is so great! I’ve been talking with my sis about creative ways to plan menus and meals ahead of time. BIG thanks to mommysnacks for mentioning you in her blog! WOOHOO!!
I’m going to make the Banana Sour Cream bread for my LifeGroup tomorrow morning! I have some bananas in the freezer to use up and just happen to have a lot of sour cream, too!
For some reason the printable menu isn’t working? So I don’t know what how many each meal is suppose to be for.
I’d like to do once a month cooking for just me. It’s tough to be motivated to cook real meals for one person. I tend to make one thing, then eat it for a while. This would be better! :-)
I just stumbled across your website and think it’s great! The only thing that I would suggest is the recipes. I have been doing freezer meals for over a year and LOVE it! But i still need instruction on how to do it. Maybe I am just not looking in the right place but it would be very helpful for me.
I like the idea of your website and would love to read it but I am having problems with your font colors, they are so light that it makes it hard to read.
Really great site! I’m really looking forward to upcoming posts.
all this stuff for under $38 ?
where do u live Tricia? I want to move there!
:) I’m loving the site though!
The $38 refered to in this post: http://onceamonthmom.com/getting-started-with-your-grocery-list/ is for the WEEK (I made the correction in the post). More is explained here: http://onceamonthmom.com/shopping-for-oam-cooking-big-days/
Just so you know, the printable menu is not showing any menu…thanks! This site is great BTW!
When you open the Google Spreadsheet there are tabs along the bottom that you can click on for the various menu cards for the recipes, they are easy to miss if you haven’t moved around in Google Docs much before – if the problem is something other than that – please let me know.
I made the Feta Stuffed Chicken tonight and it was a big hit. And it took me less than an hour for prep and cooking. Awesome! This recipe was sent out in an email, but I couldn’t find it through the website…Any body else able to find it here?
The link is in the post Menu Plan Monday http://onceamonthmom.com/menu-plan-monday-tricia-week-of-february-1st/
This looks great! Going to try it the crazy way -hubby and I are going to do it as a team. I love the suggestion of breaking it down into breakfast, lunch, or dinner. That would definitely help a “newbies” like us!
I am so pumped! I am going to do this with hubby until I can get someone else. Do you think I should wait until I move the end of the month or fo it now? I don’t know if I can wait!
I am excited to try this. I have used OAMC in the past but have had a hard time finding the time to get organized now that I am teaching full-time and pregnant. This site is exactly what I need to get started. I had one questions about one of the recipes: For the Chicken Macaroni Bake, does the pasta need to be cooked or uncooked when you put it in the dish? Thanks for all of your work.
Great question. The pasta is cooked when you put the dish together. The instructions for the entire day help to make this a little clearer. I will make sure to clarify that when I post the single batch version of that recipe next week. Thanks for reading!
When might the recipes for the Februrary menu be linked? I would love to do this but I’m kind of confused because I don’t really know how to make any of this stuff. Am I missing something?
if you click on the “printable February menu” link (located under the recipe list) you will find the complete recipes that you will need for the BIG DAY. (Take note that it is a spreadsheet and there are “tabs” along the bottom that must be clicked on to view the individual recipes). There is also a grocery list and instructions link. Looking through those will assist you further. I am slowly adding the links to the recipes on the list for purposes of making a single batch in the event that someone wants to “test” them out before the BIG DAY. However, everything that you need should be in the printable February Menu.
I love spreadsheets! I should have known there were tabs! Thank you so much!
Great! Glad you found it!
Okay, I just read through everything and you gals are amazing (even more than I thought already). This must have taken a lot of time and energy to coordinate and we get the benefit of it – Thanks So Much!
You have me excited to cook and that has NEVER happened!
Wow!!! My step-sister and i just did our first oamc day yesterday, it went okay, we are very excited to be trying it out as she has a 4yr old and is expecting a baby in may. I have a 4yr old and twin girls, oh and of course our very hungry hubbies!!! No time to cook and a desire to save time and money has lead us to trying this out. I wish we had found this site before our first cooking session!! You are amazing, wow, I think next cooking session will be based from here. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Look forward to following along with your site.
Thanks for the compliments on the site. Congrats on your first OAMC day! We look forward to having you join us in the coming months!
OHHH! I get it now! Thanks for clarifying on how to read the printable menu! LOOOOVEEE what you’re doing! You’re a blessing to many of us. Thanks for your hard work on this! :) I’m looking forward to March recipes! :)
So, I’m about to buy a mammy jammy waffle maker this week!!! I printed off your recipes in the google doc (LOVE IT) and a few others. I will be starting with baby steps for now until I can convince my friends to do this with me!!!
I am pretty excited!
Awesome!
Is it just me, or is this website really difficult to read because of the very small font size? I’m not even over 40 so I can’t be the only one having an issue! I’m very interested in the site and I hope you will make some adjustments for easier reading!
Thanks!!
It’s not just you. I thought it was just my old eyes! I think it has something to do with the colors, too
Whether it is this site or ANY website there are some quick tricks to making fonts bigger if you need to, no matter your age! :) You can visit the link HERE to learn more about HOW!
For the breakfast burritos, when do you add the cheese? Do you cook it in with the eggs and sausage? Or sprinkle it on top of the egg/sausage mixture when you are actually assembling the burrito? Thanks!
I cooked it in with the eggs and sausage.
I added the cheese with the egg and sausage mixture as well
It is so nice to see a fellow doc user, using it for cooking stuff. I thought I was the only one who used it for that.
I’m going to try the February menu for the month of April, since I am currently stocked up on most of the ingredients. This is very organized and I am really looking forward to trying this! :)
I just made the Banana Sour cream muffins….WOW are they yummy!!! I did large muffins instead of small ones, and it took them about 25 minutes in my oven to bake. We had them for breakfast this morning and froze the rest, but I could eat them all!!! I did end up with a lot of the cinnamon/sugar mix for dusting the pans, so I kept the leftover in a container for use on french toast or cinnamon toast when I want a quick breakfast or snack!
My husband keeps begging me to make these again too. He LOVES them and would be happy if they were on the menu every month. Glad you and your family enjoyed them too.
The other night I was really wanting to make the breakfast burritos. I decided I wanted to try making homemade tortillas to use with them. The tortillas ended up being very stiff and hard to roll. I didn’t want to waste the sausage, egg, cheese mixture so I ended up freezing it in muffin tins over night. I wasn’t sure how they would turn out.
The next morning I soaked the muffin tins in a little warm water and the sausage/egg mixture popped right out. I put those in ziploc bags and pull one out each night. The past few mornings I put a sausage/egg muffin on my homemade stiff tortilla and microwave for 45 seconds. I fold my tortilla in half and eat it more like a taco. These are delicious!!

I know this has been mentioned but bears repeating: for the chicken and rice pilaf my rice did not cook up in 1hr 15 minutes. The chicken was perfectly cooked and moist but the rice was hard and crunchy. I did use “real” brown rice that takes an hour on the stovetop (it’s more nutritious than minute rice) so I won’t be making this again. But the rest of your recipes have been great!! Thanks!
Yes, using regular rice instead of instant is probably a problem, it would need some adaptions but we understand. Thanks for the feedback.
