What a great blog! Will have to bookmark it for sure. Thanks for stopping by mine and sharing one of my recipes. :)
The Lazy Cabbage Roll Casserole looks fantastic! I cant’ wait to try this! Thanks for taking the time to share these recipes!
Thanks for this! We are now a GF/DF home and it seems so expensive to prepare buy groceries. I think we spend about $400 a month on food groceries right now.
Hey Elizabeth!
Are you the same one that meets with Andrea and the other girls? I am pretty sure you are and I was shocked to see your name here when I go on the site today to check it out. Tell everyone I said HI! Miss being able to meet with you ladies but I sure do love Colorado!
LOVE this concept, I’ll be trying it this week.
CORRECTION: “Rice Paper” is missing
it is not on the shopping or ingredient lists for the “Baked Rice Paper Rolls” thought it is called for in the recipe (and title)
1 package(1/2″ tall stack will make 10 generous servings. (Rice paper keeps well so over buying isn’t an issue.)
Thanks for the “heads up” on the ingredient list, etc. I will get that corrected as soon as possible! :)
Can’t wait to try this out but am I confused or is the menu item list not matching the instruction list??
Thanks!
The instructions and menu list appear to match to me. Let me know which part your are confused about, and I’ll see if I can figure it out. :)
I don’t know what I was looking at but it looks fine now. This is wonderful! I hope I can finally get back to being better planned with my meals like I had been before my allergies and two boys :)
I usually change something on the menus but this one all sounded good. The scones are great (although I ended up making mine biscuit-shaped instead)! Note, the pumpkin bread recipe needs to be in larger pans – mine overflowed big time and didn’t get all done.
Thanks for the heads up on the pumpkin bread. :) Hope you enjoy the rest of the menu!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! My son is on a GF diet. This will help a lot!
Your welcome! I hope you enjoy it! :)
You forgot 2 limes in the grocery list from what I can see. I have been working on making all the meals (not baked goods) over several days. Do you have any suggestions posted anywhere on how to do this w/a group or how to organize yourself for cooking? Also, do the gluten free baked goods taste different than nongluten free? I am concerned about spending that much money on flour and want to make sure that the taste is not weird for my picky family. Thanks!
The limes have been fixed. We have a series coming in November to address the group thing. More on your other questions soon.
I made the cranberry scones and my son likes them. This was a pleasant suprise since he has ceiliac disease. Thank you.
I am so glad he liked them! :)
I have never heard of gluten and dairy free plain yogurt. what are people using for this particular ingredient in the recipe?
Your organization of all this is amazing! I’m looking forward to learning more about doing it, since cooking gluten-free and also trying to work seems to conflict constantly.
My boyfriend is Celiac so I’m glad I came across your blog. Please post more gluten free recipes please!
[...] sure to check out the October 2011 Menu at Once A Month Mom . It includes printable menu cards, labels for your freezer meals and a grocery list! Let me [...]
Spent 8 hours cooking yesterday and only have items 14 & 15 left. The cranberries in my Cranberry Rice chicken were bitter so next time I would omit those or use Craisens to give a sweet flavor. The breakfast breads are amazing and my husband asked me to make sure they were gluten free. Can’t wait to finish up today. So much work but from what I can see so worth it. Thank you for such an organized blog. This was my starter month and this list including herbs cost me about $350.00 using Winn Dixie and Earth Fare. I bet next month will cost me much less, but still amazing for such great recipes. We spend more than that eating junk and pizza.
Thanks so much for the report and letting us know how much you spent, that will really help another reader.
Glad to help, Tricia. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for January. I never dreamed it would be so much fun to fill my freezer. One more thing though, have you or anyone else tried substituting stevia for sugar in any of the recipes? I would like to cut down on the sugar next month since both my boys have autism and they already have more stamina than they need without the added sugar.
Hi, Sandy! I pull together the gluten free menu here at OAMM (we are all GFCF in our house, too!) – I have an article on my gluten & dairy free blog with how I use alternative sweeteners in baking: http://angelaskitchen.com/2008/09/25/how-i-use-natural-sweeteners/
I don’t use a lot of stevia in baking myself, because it throws the balance of the recipe off so much for me. I do use it in beverages (hot chocolate, smoothies, lemonade and the like). However, an AMAZING blog with gluten free, sugar free recipes is Amy Green’s blog http://simplysugarandglutenfree.com/ A lot of her recipes are also dairy free or can be easily altered. Hope that helps!
Thank you Angela. The menu is great! My new fav thing to make is rice paper rolls….yum! I will check out your sites.
