Grilled Honey Soy Flank Steak

I have a secret to admit- when it comes to grilling, I am completely out of my element.  It’s not very progressive or politically correct probably but my husband is the one and only user of our grill.  He does such a fantastic job and it gives me the opportunity to work in the kitchen on my freezer meals so I see no need to change that fact.  He uses this honey and soy marinade on basically any kind of meat- from chicken to steak to pork chops.  It’s completely foolproof and the longer you let the meat marinate, the better.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.2 ounces dry Italian dressing mix
  • 0.25 cup honey

Directions:

Place flank steak in a baking pan or freezer bag.  In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients.  Mix well, then pour over steak.  Refrigerate steak and allow to marinate at least 12 hours.  For best flavor, allow to marinate for 24 hours.  After marinating, heat grill to medium high heat.  Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until desired level of doneness.  Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes.  Slice steak against the grain on a diagonal.

Freezing Directions:

Place steak into gallon freezer bag.  Combine remaining ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.  Pour marinade over steak.  Label and freeze.  To serve: thaw in fridge 24 hours before cooking.  Heat grill to medium high heat.  Cook steak for 4-5 minutes on each side, until desired level of doneness.  Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes.  Slice steak against the grain on a diagonal.
