Ham, Broccoli and Cheddar Roll
Is it me or after a holiday does there always seem to be an abundance of meat leftover after a family gathering? What is it about us that we can’t properly judge how much people are going to consume? You would think that after hosting the holidays year after year that the hostess’ would figure out, “Wait we always have too much ham, let’s scale back this year.” But that never happens. Probably because said hostess’ are worried it will be the year that everyone’s appetites show up and they will be horribly unprepared for teenage boys at a buffet table. Sigh. So alas, we are stuck with the “over supply” issue when it comes to the main course. In the case of the impending Easter holiday, ham.
This recipe is perfect for those days following Easter when you are sick of eating ham but desperately need to use the remains. Paired with the spring time harvest of broccoli, the ever popular ranch dressing and cheddar cheese and rolled into a pizza dough, you can’t go wrong with this dish for dinner. I love that it is easy enough for the kids to pick up and eat with their fingers too. Ah, the simplicity!
And well, if you are really tired of ham the good news is this recipe is freezable! So you can’t go wrong. Just hide it in the freezer until your family stops associating their consumption of chocolate Easter bunnies with you forcing ham onto their plates.
Ham Broccoli and Cheddar Roll

- 1 can pizza dough, refrigerated
- 1 cup ham, diced
- 1 cup broccoli, florets
- 8 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 0.5 cups ranch dressing
Lightly flour your work surface and roll out dough. Spread the ham, broccoli, cheese and ranch dressing over the dough. Roll up the dough jelly roll style, start with the long end. Once you have your roll, pinch the ends together. Bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes or until outside is golden brown. Allow to cool and slice!
Follow directions above but DO NOT BAKE. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in a gallon freezer bag. (If it is too long to fit in a gallon freezer bag you can wrap it with foil after the plastic wrap.) Freeze. To serve: Thaw. Bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes or until outside is golden brown. Allow to cool and slice!
