How I Once A Month Cook: Tricia

As part of our Get Started series I thought it would be nice for you to see that not even the writers at Once A Month Mom follow Once A Month Mom plans to the letter. In fact, very few of us do. Just like you! It doesn’t matter how you use Once A Month Mom, we are just glad that you do.

This video is a look into how I, Tricia, founder of Once A Month Mom use the site and do once a month cooking. It is also a real look into the microscopically small kitchen that I have to work in. Believe me, if I can cook a whole month of food with a partner in this kitchen, I am sure that you can do it too!

Enjoy!

I think this is great! It is so nice to know that it’s not “normal” to do it once a month. I tell all of my friends that your website has taught me a “lifestyle” that I’ve adapted to meet my family’s needs. I also use it as a HUGE resource for my monthly cooking. Thank you so much for everything you all offer!

Thanks for the video! I’ve been reading your blog for about a year now, I guess… but still have yet to put into action the once a month idea. I’m really indecisive and deciding that many meals at once overwhelms me I think! haha!!

I enjoyed this – I tell my friends that you don’t need a big kitchen to do this – maybe now they’ll believe me, when they see your kitchen!
I’m not a once-a-month cooker – I’m a freezer cooker! I try to make meals for the freezer every weekend – maybe a big roast, maybe use up 10 pounds of hamburger in one morning in different meals, maybe cook a bunch of chicken and then make a bunch of things. After just a couple of weeks you get a big variety in stock!
I use your site mostly for the great individual recipes, and the ideas on how to do it.

Thanks so much for posting! I love seeing the “real” side of OAMM! Makes it seem a lot more doable for those of us with small kitchens and a limited amount of time!

Thanks for this great intro! I started researching freezer cooking by checking out the cookbooks that you mentioned in your video… didn’t sound very appetizing and would NOT fit with our food allergies and preferences.
I, too, have adapted over time by making more of certain things (breakfast foods), browning meat in large quantities, and making double batches of meals when I do have the time and budget to do so.
I look forward to learning more with this series…

    Hi there!

I have been cooking weekly on Sundays…I find that a whole day of cooking for a week worth of meal is time consuming. I’m really excited to try Once a Month Cooking. I love the fact that you guys provide various menus for different dietary needs. I will let you know how my experience goes! :)

    Thanks…Mel
