INSTRUCTIONS: 8-10 Month SUMMER Baby Food

Please note that all recipes in this document have been altered (increased quantities) to meet the needs of ONE baby for ONE month. It is indicated on each recipe whether it has been doubled or quadrupled for your convenience. If you are just one person or would like to make less of a particular recipe, you will need to make the adjustments on your own to the recipe and to the grocery shopping list.
Thaw:
- .5 pounds of ground beef. This meat can be frozen because we are cooking it before freezing again.
Night Before:
- Put 13 ounces of chicken will be cooked in the crock pot, it does not need to be thawed before cooking, add 1/2 cup of water and cook for approximately 8 hours on low or until chicken is done.
- Optional (but HIGHLY recommended) – chop up all vegetables.

| Oven | Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake Cubed Beef for 30-45 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 170 degrees. Once cooked, set aside for use with Baby Beef Stew. (Refrigerate if it will be some time or the next day). |
| Steamer | Start 1 lb of Peas steaming. Steam for 14-16 minutes or until tender. |
| Stovetop | Start 1 saucepan with onion and begin preparation for Chicken with Potato & Corn. (~25minutes prep) |
| Stovetop | Start 2nd saucepan with heated oil, leeks and carrots and prepare First Chicken Casserole. (~25minutes prep) |
| Food Processor/ Blender |
Process the following items and transfer to gallon (nonfreezer) bags for pouring into ice cube trays:

| Refrigerator/ Freezer |
Place sealed bags in refrigerator or go ahead and fill ice cube trays, cover with foil, label, and place in freezer. |
| Steamer | Start 2 lbs of Summer Squash steaming. Steam for ~25 minutes or until tender. |
| Stovetop | Start 1 saucepan sauteing onion and prepare Potato, Summer Squash & Peas. (~25min) |
| Stovetop | Start 2nd saucepan with sauteing leeks and prepare Spinach, Potato, Parsnip & Leek. (~25 min) |
| Food Processor/ Blender |
Process the following items and transfer to gallon (nonfreezer) bags for pouring into ice cube trays:

| HALF WAY | This is a good halfway point if you are looking to do this in two days. Also, if you are finding your are running out of refrigerator space or only have enough to do half of the ice cube trays at a time, this would be a good time to proceed to the last “freezer” step. Meaning, you can process what you have made into ice cube trays and freeze for the night. If you are doing it all in one day, keep moving! |
| Steamer | Start 2 pounds of Green Beans steaming. Steam for ~30 minutes or until tender. |
| Stovetop | In a saucepan start the Baby Beef Stew cooking. (~30 min) |
| Stovetop | In a skillet start the Tasty Ground Meat with Rutabaga & Tomato. (~30 min) |
| Food Processor/ Blender |
Process the following items and transfer to gallon (nonfreezer) bags for pouring into ice cube trays:

Place sealed bags in refrigerator or go ahead and fill ice cube trays, cover with foil, label, and place in freezer. |
| Steamer | Start the Rutabaga, Carrot & Peas steaming. (~20 min) |
| Stovetop | Start a saucepan of water boiling and boil Blueberries. (~20 min) |
| Stovetop | Start a saucepan of water boiling and boil Pears. (~15 min) |
| Stovetop | (OPTIONAL) If removing skin from Peaches, do so now. |
| Blender | Process the following items and transfer to gallon (nonfreezer) bags for pouring into ice cube trays:

Place sealed bags in refrigerator or go ahead and fill ice cube trays, cover with foil, label, and place in freezer. |
| Steamer | Start 1 pound of Carrots steaming. (~20 min) |
| Food Processor/ Blender |
Puree Peaches. |

Puree Bananas. |
| Freezer | IMMEDIATELY process the following items and transfer to gallon (nonfreezer) bags for pouring into ice cube trays & put into ice cube trays IMMEDIATELY:

| Freezer | NOW, place all of your ice cube trays out on a flat surface. Using your gallon bags of pureed food, cut a small hole in a bottom corner of the bag and use to pour/squeeze into ice cube trays. DO NOT OVERFILL individual trays. Only fill them up to their tops and not overflowing the sides. Cover with a small piece of aluminum foil and mark the type of food on the foil. Freeze for at least 24 hours before transferring to quart or gallon freezer bags for long-term storage. |
