- These are the step-by-step instructions you will need to quickly and efficiently approach your once a month (OAMC) BIG DAY!
- Google Document of Instructions
Recipes
Please note that all recipes in this document have been altered (increased quantities) to meet the needs of TWO people participating in a OAM Cooking Day. It is indicated on each recipe whether it has been doubled or quadrupled for your convenience. If you are just one person or would like to make less of a particular recipe, you will need to make the adjustments on your own to the recipe and to the grocery shopping list.
Instructions
- 3 pounds of chicken will be cooked in the crock pot, it does not need to be thawed before cooking. 6.5 pounds will be used for “Dump” Chicken & Grapes and it can be placed directly in the bags frozen, add sauce and stick back in freezer.
- 6 pounds of beef (Hubby’s Favorite Casserole, Chili Cheese Potato Bake) This meat can be frozen because we are cooking it before freezing again.
Thaw
- 8.5 pounds chuck roast (can be cooked from frozen state but will take longer).
Night Before:
- Put 3 pounds of chicken into a crock pot, add 1 cup of water and cook for approximately 8 hours on low or until chicken is done.
- Optional (but HIGHLY recommended) – chop up all vegetables, cook Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches in crock pot overnight (2 crock pots).

Just found your site and very excited. About a month ago I sent a request out to all the families in our small group from church to see if any of them would be interested in doing a monthly cooking session for our meal ministry. There was lots of interest but we had no idea how to organize it. You’ve done all the work for us! Thank you so much. I’m planning my first cooking session with your August menu.
I’m very excited to try this August OAMM Menu. What time should we start and what time should we be expected to finish? My friend and I are going to do it while our 6 kids are buzzing around.
Well, that is hard to say. . .with kids buzzing around I would say allow 10-12 hours the first time. It really depends on your works style, interuptions, etc. I would highly recommend doing the chopping and some prep the night before. Make sure to go to the HOW TO page and read about doing good prep. Good luck, can’t wait to hear about it.
I’m trying to find the actual recipes for August. I like to review the recipes and pick and choose which ones I’m going to cook. I’m sure I’m just overlooking it, but the link seems to be hard to find this month.
I found the recipes! Sorry.
This is my first time to visit your site. I am very new to all of this, but very excited to try it since I have a newborn at home (our first!) and I am a teacher…time is limited! Deciding what to fix for meals is always a challenge for me, so I am really looking forward to using your tools & site.
Can you please tell me how to find the recipes for the August menu? I am sure it is right under my nose, but I can’t for the life of me find them!
Just do a search for “August” the original message will appear and the links to the original recipes are there. For the OAMM recipes click on the “printable August menu” link. It will give you a Google Doc (make sure you notice the tabs on the bottom of the document). If you are still have trouble, email me and I will assist.
When you say crockpot, What size are you using?
I typically use a 6 quart crock pot, I find it works the best. I have a smaller one I use as my second one and then have friends bring theirs.
