Join in on the Heavenly Homemakers Freezer Cooking Challenge
When I first started looking into the possibilities of adding a whole foods menu to the OAMM list of menus I started asking around about the “go to” blogging resources for whole foods cooking. Overwhelmingly the response included Heavenly Homemakers. So I began to follow. I had heard of Laura’s site in the past, even visited, but never really submerged myself until recently. Now I find myself pouring over posts about how she cooks for her large family.
And I am pleased that she has also been submerging herself in Once a Month Mom as well! This week she is challenging her readers (and I thought you might want to join the fun) to some freezer cooking. After all, a full freezer makes for a less hectic and frazzled mama.
I’ve decided I’m going to join the challenge with her. I’m not doing a full OAMM menu BUT I do have some freezer staples that need restocked. These are some of our go-to meals for the kids. In addition, I have committed to bringing food to three different families this week, and I prefer to take the frozen version to them so that they can throw them in the oven when they are hungry and not when I can get to them. Here is what is on my cooking list this week:
Family Favorite Staples
- Toddler French Toast Sticks
- Homemade Pop Tarts (mine), but Laura has a great whole wheat version too (Homemade Healthy Pop Tarts
- Frozen Fruit Cups
Gifting Meals
Been Itching to Make
So head on over to Heavenly Homemakers and see how you can participate in some freezer cooking this week. If you already have scheduled to do some OAMM cooking, all the better!

This is so exciting! My 2 favorite sites combining forces :) I’ve followed OAMM for the past couple years. Our little guy has been growing up on your baby and toddler food recipes his whole 2 years! Originally, I followed the monthly cooking days to the letter. Over time, we’ve found favorite recipes that can always be found in our freezer. Lately, I’ve scoured the grocery ads to find the best meat deal and cooked for the freezer based on the ads. Every week, I can go through the freezer inventory and make a meal plan based on what we already have on hand. We ate completely from our freezer for 2 months while we waited to close on our house! Now that we’re moved in, our freezer is empty and it’s time to start cooking, again!
