Mama has a New Look! (Thanks to 252 West Salon)

Thanks to your great suggestions and the talent of 252 West Salon, I have a sassy new look! I am telling you, there is nothing more theraputic than getting a fresh new look mid-winter. It has done a number for my spirits! And my oh my how a new look can be so much of a FINER THING!

The 252 West Staff that treated us like royalty!

I was so excited when I got all of your suggestions via post comments and Facebook. I promptly printed all of the pictures and took them with me. But I needn’t have done that really. The great team at 252 West had already done their homework, read my post and done a little research of their own. I was so impressed.

But before we get to the new great hair, let me tell you about what happened BEFORE the great hair. Due to my mommy responsibilities (and a bit of a mishap between hubby and I) I arrived at the salon a little late. No worries. Especially since Amy had hooked me up with a theraputic Coke Icee. Off to my facial I was wisked.

Have you ever had a facial? I hadn’t. Oh. My. Goodness. It is a massage for your neck and face. Honestly, I’m not sure I am going to get full body massages anymore. I carry most of my stress in my neck and my face so the facial was absolutely amazing. I love it!

Pretty toes!

Next I was off to my spa pedicure with Heidi. Poor Heidi. I have never seen my feet so tattered. Sure, mid-winter they get a bit calloused and flaky, but never as bad as this. (Perhaps I am spending a little too much time in the kitchen?) I was at a loss. But Heidi just worked away putting them back in prime condition. She also suggested (and you might try this too) that after I shower to occasionally put lotion on my feet AND a plastic bag and then put my socks on. She mentioned that it sounds weird (and might feel weird) but it helps the lotion get absorbed into your feet instead of your socks. I will definitely have to try that one! But, in the meantime, my toes look purdy and are ready for those open toed shoe parties there are sure to be at Blissdom.

Next I got a paraffin dip manicure. Weird. Amazing. Refreshing. So not only did I get cute toes, I got cute fingers too. And let me just tell you, after all the cooking my nails needed tons of help! Especially since I spent this week pitting cherries as the kids gobbled up on-sale produce.

Then it was time for hair. The moment I had been waiting for. And was a little anxious over. After much discussion and looking over some styles that Brigitt had picked out as well, we decided on this cut that a reader suggested. I like the color too, maybe a bit lighter though.

I have to admit, as I was sitting there in that chair I almost chickened out. Really, I almost did. My hair hadn’t been that short in some time so I was a bit nervous. Oh well, I was going for broke! (Or bald) :)

So Brigitt started working her coloring magic and I started posting embarrassing pictures of myself on Twitter. The way I figure it; if you embarrass yourself then others have less opportunity to do it for you. :) I went to mix and mingle with Amy as she was receiving a make-up application lesson from Josh. Josh whom I thought was trying to sell us cosmetics. Josh WAS NOT trying to sell us cosmetics, in fact, they don’t even sell cosmetics! He was there to help step up our mommy looks by day and to teach us to transition them to a night look for Blissdom parties. So. Much. Fun. I learned tons during Amy’s session and mine.

And, I know, the picture you all really want to see, my new sassy hair! Doesn’t this picture just scream SASS! :) Yes, I am a goof ball, you should know that about me. I am serious 95% of the time, but if you are really lucky you get to see this 5% I tuck away for fun occasions such as this! And maybe, just maybe, I will whip this out more than 5% of the time now that I have fun new hair and know how to apply makeup in a quick but effective manner.

Again, please don’t read this post as a tale in why you should want to look glamorous. Your true beauty comes from within. But like many of you, I am a hard working mom that all too often doesn’t pay herself enough attention, thus letting herself go. I had gone too far to the frumpy. It was making me grumpy! I really am amazed at how much this experience has really cheered me up.

If you find that you have the Winter BLAHS I encourage you to do something special for yourself. Maybe it is some time at the spa. Maybe it is a quiet latte in a corner of the cafe. Maybe it is running at the gym. Whatever it is, DO IT! You are worth it!

And if you happen to live in the Dayton area I HIGHLY encourage you to check out the wonderful staff at 252 West Salon – they are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I even have a coupon for you to get $10 off your first visit with them. And whether you are in Dayton or not, I would LOVE for you to head over to their Facebook Fan Page and tell them what you think of my new look! (Oh and there are a TON more pictures of our night of pampering.)
