You can totally freeze avocados! I buy a bunch when they're on sale, puree them with my immersion blender and freeze in ice cube trays. They work well and actually, never turn brown this way.

Also, good luck with the rutabaga veggie combo! I made it and my girls hated it. I tried it and hated it as well. The rutabaga added a very bitter taste, so make sure to get a small rutabaga.

I freeze avocados as well. I usually buy four or five at a time, wait a couple days until they're fully ripe, peel, pit and put them in the food processer. You can also dice the meat and feed as a finger food. It'll turn brown but it's truly okay. I also freeze bananas this way, as well as whole without the peel. When they thaw they'll brown, though.

And only use citrus if your baby is old enough for it.

Hi Megan,
Thanks for the tip...if I find a good deal on avocados this month I might try freezing a few and see what happens. I also freeze bananas which most people don't do because of the same reason as the avocados, so I can't wait to try it! Thanks again.

Hi-- Just FYI here, my son went gaga for avocados as one of his first veggies and freezing worked fine for us. I sprinkled a bit of lemon juice on and tried to get as much air out of the baggie as possible. The outside did turn brown when I thawed it, but he still gobbled it down. It wasn't pretty anymore, but it tasted just fine.
