This past Saturday was my first go at the OAM cooking day and it went great! My friend and I got together and worked from 9:30am-6:30pm straight and although it was ALOT of work it is very well worth it! I look forward to the extra time with my family in the month to come and have already began thinking about when I should schedule the next cooking day!

Yesterday was my first time doing the all day cooking. Last month I tried getting together with a friend, doing half, and agreeing to make the other half on our own. We never finished the whole menu. So, this month we decided it was better to knock it all out in one day.
Overall it went VERY well. It took us 7 hours to complete the menu (minus 2 - we ran out of ground beef - so we are finishing the burgers today).
I totally ran out of steam at 1pm (we started at 8am). But, we wrapped it up and managed to clean up the kitchen and be done by 3.
Thanks for the monthly menus - I am looking forward to enjoying the fruits of our labor all month long :)

Great recap. After I have a cooking day, I go through a mental lessons learned. Last time the big thing I learned was to set out ALL ingredients, bowls, pans, foil, baggies, etc. the night before. Perishable items of course should stay in the fridge. I was too tired and didn't do this. Every recipe I had to run around the house to find some necessary item. Very unproductive.

BTW my family thought the ChocolateChip Coffee Cake, Sour Cream Banana Nut Muffins, so those were gone in a week! Also noticed that alot of items aren't as kid friendly would really love to see more! My boys (12,8,2yo)are real picky no onions, peppers, whole tomatoes, I have to puree & hide or they spit it out! LOL Its easier that way! Just a suggestion thanks for all the great ideas!

I didn't do the May menu yet but I actually ran into lots of the problems all you ladies did! Forgetting items at the store, Running outta tortillas, Getting tired halfway through, I have 3 boys and some of the items just werent lasting so I had to add more to recipe or they hated one etc, so I still have some recipes from April! My question is where do all of you get the pans mentioned! Who can afford to freeze every pan they own? I went to $1 store still ended up costing too much! we also live in a rural town so not alot of choices!
