Menu Plan Monday: August 2, 2010

Disclosure: A Sam’s Club membership, gift card and giveaway were provided to me by General Mills through My Blog Spark and Sam’s Club to facilitate this review. All the opinions in this post are mine, want to know more about how I facilitate review, view my full disclosure policy!

I’m curious where do you shop for your once a month cooking groceries? Do you shop the sales throughout the month or do you use a large wholesalers like Sam’s Club?

I do a little bit of both. It kind of depends on whether Sam’s Club has the ingredients that I am going to need. Well, this month, in time for back to school Sam’s Club (Aug 11-31) will have boxes of General Mills products with 6 Box Tops for Education so that you can get ahead on saving for your school. In addition, you have an opportunity to earn even more Box Tops from Aug 6-13 when you upgrade to a “Plus Membership”. Those members that upgrade their membership to “Plus Membership” during this time period will receive a 150 Bonus Box Tops! Why not earn money for your school WHILE you are doing your oamc shopping?

Would you like a chance to wittle down some of your grocery savings this month? General Mills through My Blog Spark and Sam’s Club are offering YOU a Sam’s Club “Plus Membership” and a $25 gift card.

Here is how to enter:

  1. Comment on what products will you be purchasing from Sam’s Club this back-to-school season?

I’ve never been to Sams Club! If I had a membership, I’d be pricing meat, ziplics, flour, rice, and some quick GM items like fruit rollups for the kids’ lunches. :)

  2. Sarah G says:

I will definitely be purchasing their granola bars for quick snacks, and their rotisserie chickens for fast lunches!

  3. FoxFire says:

    Tuna, ziplock bags, trail mix

  4. Jodi says:

I’m not sure but probably ingredients for our favorite snack recipes and likely string cheese and other snacky foods.

  5. Sunshine says:

Fruit roll ups, chips in small bags, and lunchmeat!

  6. Keli says:

I love their lunchmeat and so do my boys. And their Gogurt is the cheapest I can get without waiting for sales and coupons.
BTW – thanks for linking to the August OAMM, on my way to check it out now!

  7. Michelle Carter says:

It may sound weird but I actually had a dream last night that I was buying baby formula in Sams Club. I’d buy lunch snacks and dairy products there.

  8. Mary says:

String Cheese, it is so much cheaper there!
Also thinking about the lunch meat

  9. We don’t currently have our own Sam’s Club membership but if I did I would be stocking up on some meats, yogurt and some frozen items for our lunches.

Your menu looks wonderful this week as well!

  10. Jami Lynn says:

I would buy meat, cheese, and pantry staples – like flour, sugar, rice. Oh, and some spices too :)

  11. I like Sam’s Club, but usually I can’t do my weekly shop there because of the bulk sizes.

  12. Liz says:

Nothing. There really isn’t one close enough to make it worth the membership fee and travel time.

  13. april says:

I shop there once a month and buy stuff like produce, string cheese, juice boxes, milk, muffins, bagels, nuts, etc, anything thats easy for the kids to grab and go!

  14. Kristi in CA says:

I like to purchase meat in bulk and then lunch items (granola bars, string cheese, etc).

  15. Rochelle says:

At sam’s I purchase snacks for the children’s church pantry. I also like to purchase my birthday party food supplies there!

  16. Rachel C says:

I always get the big containers of almonds and animal crackers :)

  17. Jacci says:

I’ll need lots of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal for a quick breakfast before we head out preschool. We go though it like mad. And baked tortilla chips too!

  18. I was just as Sam’s Club yesterday and looking at the jeans for the boys. My son wanted a new hoodie too but we didn’t get that yet. I’m not ready to get serious about school shopping yet!

We actually have a membership to Sam’s and Costco. They both have enough unique ingredients that make it worth it for us to have both. Plus I’m feeding like 12 – 14 people with daycare so we buy A LOT of food! Sam’s Club has our favorite tortillas that we would be lost without!! Thanks for a great giveaway!

  19. Olivia says:

Great giveaway! We always buy our rice (Basmati’s the best), our diapers, and our toilet paper at Sam’s. Best and cheapest. I like to check out their clothes as well b/c they usually carry the same outfits in sizes for my 6yo and 2yo to match. And of course, we always stop to eat pizza before we leave!

  20. Becky says:

I used to have a Sam’s membership, and I plan to get one again before school starts.

I loved buying milk, meat, deli meat, and cereal & snacks at Sam’s. Best prices!

  21. Cheryl says:

We buy our ziplocs and containers there.

  22. Marj M. says:

I’ve never had a Sam’s membership. I would purchase the school supplies, crackers, etc. for school lunches.

  23. Amy M. Miller says:

Meat, meat and more meat – to restock, of course!

  24. Cortney says:

I don’t have a Sam’s membership, but I wish I did! Especially for the meats and frozen foods, but also bulk plastic stuff (sandwich/freezer bags, trash bags, etc.)

  25. Tiffany says:

If I had a Sams club card, I would buy everything there but my produce. I love Sams when I had a card. I would buy our cheese there since we go through a ton, and the kids love their litle eclaires that they have. Sketti sance in a huge can since I haven’t learned to make it yet. I wanna learn to cook once a month! :)

  26. monica B says:

I don’t have a Sam’s membership yet. I plan on buying meats there because our grocery store sales on meats are not that great.

  27. Lindsey W. says:

I love shopping at Sam’s Club! I always buy my meats there, juice boxes, a few random frozen food items, and then whatever else catches our eye. We have a large family, so it works well for us!

  28. Sheila says:

I will be buying the same things I do regularly: bulk cheese, baking products, snacks, dog items, drinks, etc. I’m there regularly.

  29. Crystal says:

I will purchase meats, cereal, diapers, snack items. and so much more
