I had to chime in on this one. I have three boys and one girl. The girl was the only one where I didn't/couldn't eat red meat. I ate so much fish with her that I thought I was going to grow gills. During my 1st trimester I had tickets to several games. The popcorn would make me sick. The pretzels...sick. The hot dogs...sick. The Sheriff Blalock's nachos which consisted of chips, nacho cheese (canned variety), chili (canned), sour cream and jalapenos (extra) were perfect. Throughout my entire pregnancy, jalapenos were "Doodlebug's" favorite thing. I am a HUGE baseball fan. During my 1st trimester I had tickets to several games. The popcorn would make me sick. Early in my pregnancy, I had the bright idea to buy a jar of pickle (you know one of our folktale cravings)as a snack for work. Oh this little wasn't going to have it! The minute the jar was opened and the scent hit my nose, I was so ill and in the bathroom for most of my shift. I had to go home! Do you know my son to this day can not stand pickles. Go figure. But when it comes to cravings...I loved black olives and piles of it. My son will eat black olives straight from the can. You are right about throwing out the pregnancy “rule” book out of the window. I've tried roasts, chicken dinners, and ham and bean soup on the stove. It all gives me a serious headache and no desire to eat. So our crockpot has been put away for the time being. Especially my husbands cologne and coffee! I craved anything and everything spicy. A weird craving that I had was Gatorade! I couldn't drink enough of the stuff and I normally hate it and don't drink it at all! Also I wanted bananas a lot and I rarely can eat them. I was pretty sure mine was a boy because I was sick the entire pregnancy and with my prevoius (girl) pregnancy I was only sick twice. Congratulations and good luck!
