My NEW cooking shoes!

I don’t mess around when it comes to being comfortable in the kitchen. When you are cooking the whole months meals in one day you NEED a comfortable shoe. In the past I have always recommended tennis shoes. (And I mean good tennis shoes). You are on your feet for at least 8 hours, you need good support and toe coverage from flying objects (*ahem* *ahen* Cortney)!

However, I have switched to these comfys! Last March, I received my free Crocs from our Blissdom ‘09 Swag Bag. Now, before you go thinking that they are paying me to write how great they are or that I feel guilty for getting free stuff and feel like I just need to promote them; let me give you a little “Tricia” history.

When Crocs came out many, many moons ago I can be quoted as saying something like “I will NEVER be caught dead in a pair of those! They are so ugly!” Seriously. I know, I know they have great new styles since the early days. I just am hard headed couldn’t be convinced. Even two years ago when I broke down and bought my husband a pair of AVP Croc sandals because he is obsessed in love with some AVP, I reminded everyone that even though it was against my “religion” to buy them, I was doing it for the love of my hubby.

So when I got the gift certificate at Blissdom ‘09 I was a bit torn. I knew what my internal montra said but those Malindi’s were looking pretty cute. So I broke down and gave them a try. Oh, why did I wait so long people? These things are AMAZING. I do absolutely love them. In fact, when I went to buy a swimsuit for vacation I was trying to decide between colors. I really wanted the brown but it wasn’t going to match the black crocs I had bought. What is a girl to do? So I bought both swimsuits (brown and teal) and said I would just have to go get myself a brown pair of Crocs.

Well, apparently now I don’t have to even do that. The fabulous Amy sent George, the great Crocs God, our Dayton Mom’s Nite Out video and he is sending us a free pair! Seriously! I’m in love! I am having a hard time choosing. You know I wanted to splurge and get an expensive pair but I just love the Malindi so much. I think the frugal practical me will win out and I will try for the Olivia in brown this time. (As a side note, hubs keeps trying to talk me into getting him a pair instead of me and I keep saying – no. Man, I really am eating my own words aren’t I?)

As for cooking, in April I wore this pair for our cooking extravaganza. I loved them. They were so comfortable, my feet didn’t hurt one bit at the end of the day. I also loved them because I didn’t have to wear socks with them like I do my tennis shoes which meant that my feet could “breath” throughout the day and I didn’t overheat. Not to mention my precious toes were protected from Cortney’s pension for “dropping” everything things.

So thanks George, thanks Crocs. Readers, if you have a pair of Crocs in your closet, dig them out for you next cooking day. If you don’t have a pair? I recommend the Malindi personally!

I bought pink Malindi’s several months ago just for wearing in the kitchen. I love them so much I started wearing them everywhere. Now I need new ones. LOL

  4. I think it is so cool that you were able to get over your own bias to move forward to help your tootsies be comfortable. I felt the same way you did with the fashion part, but those Olivia’s are kind of cute. You have inspired me to look into getting a pair.

Here is to personal growth and moving past our self’s to true comfort. ;-) Blessings to you

  5. Amen, sista! I LOVE the Malindi Crocs… I have the leopard print. Meow ;)

Oh, and it was also against my religion to buy Crocs, but now I’m a huge fan.

I adore my “Positano” Crocs… they aren’t for wearing in the kitchen, but are THE most comfy heels I have ever worn.

I so do love my crocs. I started wearing them about 2 yrs ago now during my pregnancy and found that they are fabulous in the kitchen. I can tell a MAJOR difference in my back when I am not wearing them during cooking/prep time.

I just broke down and ordered my 1st pair of crocs. I used coupon code kiosk09 and got free shipping. Every little bit helps. Hopefully more people can use the shipping code.

  11. I absolutely LOVE my malindi’s (I have them in Silver) I have been looking at the brown Olivia’s as well. I need to get myself to the crocs store not too far from here to see what exactly I want to get. I walked 3 miles in the MoD walk this past Saturday and my feet were smiling at the end. Altho hubby seriously doubted that my feet would make it in ‘cute’ shoes. I showed him!

  12. MommyAmy says:

    Super cute!

I too have been a croc hater for years but I like some of the new styles they have. :)
