Nutmeg Nanny Honey Glazed Chicken Thighs: Secret Recipe Club

It is that time of the month again! No, no, no not THAT time. No, no, no not time for new menus either. Time for The Secret Recipe Club. Do you get as excited about these posts/recipes as I do? Don’t answer that if the response is not positive because I LOVE THEM and that is all that matters. :)

If you are just joining us, The Secret Recipe Club is a bit of a recipe club that I joined several months back where each month I am given a “secret” blog and my mission is to find a recipe from that blog to recreate for you, right here! Sometimes it is pure joy, sometimes it is a bit of a challenge, sometimes well. . .we will leave it at that. It the luck of the draw I suppose. This month? This month it was pure joy. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the blog I was assigned was a blog that I had already visited via Pinterest. That made me happy. Turns out this is the recipe that first landed my eyes on Nutmeg Nanny. And now I get to share a bit of a recipe I tweaked from her site.

First of all, before we get to the recipe go ahead and take a 3 minute break. Yes, I said 3 minutes! You can do it! And head over to Nutmeg Nanny to peruse her recipes, she has quite a few. Find the recipe that YOU would have chosen (or better yet, will choose). Go ahead while you are there and just pin one or two to your “recipes to make” board. You know you want to! Okay, now that you have taken your 3 minutes, come on back and read THIS recipe. (No, I won’t tell that you didn’t stay the whole 3 minutes – CHEATER – it is our little secret, but shame on you!) :)

Honey Spiced Glazed Chicken Thighs

Author/Source:

Tricia @ Onceamonthmom.com adapted from Nutmeg Nanny’s Honey Spiced Glazed Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 1 package boneless skinless chicken thighs (you should get about 8 thighs per package)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Directions:

Mix spices together and set aside. Mix honey and cider vinegar and set aside.

Un-tuck chicken thighs so they are flat. Cover both sides in seasoning, set in slow cooker. Pour honey mixtures over the chicken thighs. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours. If you are able to baste the chicken by spooning some of the liquid over the chicken periodically during the cooking time, please do. If not, no worries.

Take chicken out of slow cooker and let rest for a few minutes. Feel free to spoon excess glaze over chicken before serving.

Love a good crock pot chicken recipe where the chicken skin actually cooks and doesn’t become “gummy”. I will be adding this one to my list. Great choice!

  11. Tessa says:

Got to love slow cooker recipes. Not only are they easy, but they don’t heat up the house. This chicken looks great!

Mmmmm, these look so good…love the sweet and spicy combo of the honey with the red pepper flakes.

  13. I don’t use my crockpot often… But I will be pulling it out for this recipe. Looks so good. Always love a good thigh recipe as well… as they are cheaper! And in my opinion the best part of the chicken!
