Once a month cooking (OAMC) and food allergies
Nearly a month ago a reader, Tara, wrote me to say that she was excited to see the site but was also dealing with a son that had quite a few allergies (milk, soy, eggs, peanuts, and shellfish). As always, it would be great if I had more time and could make the necessary adjustments for the dietary needs, but there just isn’t enough time in my month. Tara understood and still wanted to do OAMM AND meet the needs of her family (and share with you).
So Tara did A LOT of extra work and made necessary ingredient changes and substituted some items to make the our June Menu work for her and her family. AND she decided to share it all with you.
Now, I want to caution you that we will NOT be providing these adjusted dietary menus each month, but if Tara or another reader wants to make changes and submit them we are more than happy to share them with others!
This is also a great example of how you too can make simple changes to the menu to meet the needs of your family. Whether it is a heart condition, allergies, diabetes there are always simple changes that can be made to adjust the menu to suit your situation. It simply takes a little time. And it is way more healthy and inexpensive than eating out or last minute shopping and cooking.
Tara has also agreed to field questions from you as you look over the menu (taraspitzer at gmail.com). Please keep in mind, that like us, she is human and there may be a mistake here and there. We just appreciate her sharing her resources and knowledge.
Thank you Tara
