Oven Country Steak Recipe
I recently decided to raid my mother’s recipe box for some of my childhood favorites. This dish has been weighing on my taste buds ever since I visited my grandmother several months ago and she made it for dinner. I forgot how much I loved it! And I never knew how easy the recipe is to pull together.
I love the tenderness of the steak and how this recipe just hits the spot on a cold winter day!

Might be a silly question, but does the recipe really require CLOVES or is that supposed to be garlic?
It REALLY requires cloves. I know it seems odd but when you taste it you will understand why. It is wonderful!

I have never seen anyone else who puts ketchup on this! We call it swiss steak and pan cook it, but it is also my grandmothers recipe. Probably is her mothers recipe. Great to see this, because it is my favorite, especially when (pan cooked) to make gravy out of the meat ketchup and served over mashed potatoes!
It seems so simple and that ketchup wouldn’ t taste that great but I am always amazed at how flavorful it is.
