Poll: Do You Have an Extra Freezer?

Last week’s survey (if you haven’t completed it, please do) has enlightened me a bit about the readers of Once A Month Mom. I will share the results soon but it  has definitely gotten me thinking about mini-polls and other information I would like to know about you.

This week I am wondering who has a freezer other than their refrigerator freezer? Please take a few minutes to come over to the poll (located in the right sidebar) and answer this question.

Thanks!

Yes. A small 5.0 cu. ft. upright. Kind of looks like a dorm frig. Fits great in my laundry room. Love it other than it is not self defrosting.

  2. Serena says:

I have 2 extra freezers. Both are chest freezers. I only use one on a regular basis, the other is used only for my OAMC day. Since I started doing the OAMC day for myself I have been asked to cook for other people. So on my OAMC day I make 30 meals for my family and 20-30 each for 3 other households. So having the 2 freezers helps!

I have a freezer that is being ill-utilized. I hate that I am wasting that wonderful item that I bought for myself.

  4. Kelly says:

Yes! Couldn’t do without it…aside from the veggies I freeze from the garden, we also get our meat from the ‘farm’ and butcher 1/2′s at a time and fill the freezer for fresh meat too!

  5. Rebecca Haughn says:

Yes we have another freezer. It is a 17 cu ft one that sits in the garage. Winter being longer than summer it is just fine and rarely runs in the winter. Works out great on the electricity bill. Bottom shelf is beef, next up is poultry, next up is other which includs pork, fish and some veges. Top shelf is butter, more veges and odd and ends when there are some. In the door is juices, breads and the occasional dessert. I also dehydrate and thus we have a great thing including our pantry. Family of 5!

  6. Emily says:

My answer right now is no, but I am eagerly anticipating getting one later this spring! Can’t wait to do more freezer cooking!

  7. Jenn says:

Yes I have a chest freezer that is pretty large and love it. It comes in handy for bulk shopping.

  8. Julie Alejos says:

I have an additional fridge/freezer in the garage. Does that count as an additional freezer?

  9. Jenn says:

We have a small chest freezer in the garage for meat and bulk shopping. I love it and now want to get a larger chest freezer for my family of 5 so I can start trying out the OAMC day as well – I’m new to this site and am very excited to have found it!
    Thanks!

Yes we have two, a very large upright freezer which holds our meat and a small chest freezer that is full of vegetables out of our garden. Freezer cooking has been done in our family for over 20 years. We cook for a month and freeze everything we can out of our garden. If we don’t home can it, it is home frozen. Wouldn’t know what to do without them.

  11. Stacy says:

No additional freezer for us…just the one over our refrigerator. The bottom shelf holds all of our freezer meals. Half of the top is taken up by the icemaker and the other half holds our veggies and desserts.

  12. DeAna says:

I have a small chest freezer that I use for stocking up on frozen veggies (I buy them in bulk when they are super discounted), extra loaves of bread, veggies from our garden that we froze, homemade freezer jam, things like that. I use our standard refrigerator freezer for all my OAMC meals, meats I buy in advance of preparing the next month’s meals, veggies I anticipate using in the near future, and other little odds & ends. I stopped buying ice cream because I don’t have room in either freezer (not like I really need ice cream anyways!).

I just got mine today, I am new to OAMC and I am really looking forward to putting it to good use.
