Pyrex for Saving Supper! (Things I Love Thursday)
Last week when I confessed my weakness for measuring devices, several of them happened to be Pyrex. It isn’t a wonder as a good portion of the kitchen tools I use are from Pyrex. They make great stuff!
When I was at Blogher in July I was so excited to see them as part of the World Kitchen exhibit booth. I was also excited to see some of their new lines of storage items. As in they have a line that can go from your freezer to your refrigerator to your oven! How cool is that! Especially for us freezer cooking enthusiasts. There isn’t anything I love more than simplifying the cooking experience, cutting down on disposable waste and cutting down on dirty dishes!
This fall Pyrex has been focused on Supper Savers: Meals that Multitask. We know all about that don’t we? Of course we do! Preparing foods ahead of time, re-purposing leftovers, you name it. We try to make the most of our meals. The great thing about Pyrex is that they have lots of products that help us to do that. I especially like storing my ready to go chopped veggies for once a month cooking days in their containers!

I can remember growing up and using my mom’s, seemingly unbreakable glass pyrex 9×13 dishes. We used them for absolutely everything. So when I got married guess what was one of my first things to register for? You guessed it. Well we were blessed and thankfully people didn’t pay very close attention to the registry and we ended up with 2 of the 9×13 and 2 of the 9×9 square dishes…So freezer cooking is much more possible now!

I have a 1 cup and 4 cup glass measuring cup and I use them all the time, for heating things to put in thermoses for lunch, making jello (easy to pour in individual cups, etc.
I have these small square containers with lids that can be used for baking or freezing…perfect size when cooking for two! what a great giveaway!

Oh my goodness I did not realize that there were dishes you could freeze and cook in! What a great thing! My favorite pyrex previously has been the measuring cups but I think that is about to change! Also, I subscribe to your blog through Google Reader, does that count?

I so love the glass Pyrex with lids. They are the best: no need to use foil to cover any leftovers, then when it’s in the fridge, you can stack stuff on top. Why do I only have one of them? I love them so.

I love my 9 x 13 pan with lid. I use it all the time.
my dad bought a pyrex glass, 4-cup measuring cup back in the early 80s and it moved out of the house with me and i still have it. it is, by far, my favorite piece of pyrex equipment (and i have a lot of it!).

My Pyrex containers are probably the only wedding gifts that I use on a weekly basis. After 10 years, they are still going strong!

I think I can honestly say I have no Pyrex in teh house – what a sin! I’m not sure how it happeend, but maybe that’s why I’m so unhappy with my choices for freeser cooking!
I love Pyrex — I already have several of their glass dishes with plastic lids that are perfect for freezing. The small 1 qt dishes are my favorite because they store a perfect casserole for two.

I have been using my 9×13 and 9×9 pyrex pans for 60 years now. I line my dish in aluminum foil and freeze. That makes it easy to take the foil out of the pan, wrap securely and use the dish for other things. I defrost in the dish, bake and serve. So I use my dishes over and over.

My favorite Pyrex piece is my pyrex glass pie plate that I have easily accessible in my cupboard. I use it for everything from thawing meat in the fridge (it catches all the blood from spilling on the fridge shelves), to getting meat ready to grill, to shredding pork, etc….. I use it ALL the time. :)

I love my pyrex pans for the freezer cooking. I am trying one every two weeks and scrimp on my grocery budget to get some, so I can stack my freezer meals in an organized fashion! I only wish they had smallish square containers for things like cheese that I buy in bulk and freeze portions till I need them. Not to be greedy, but I do hope I win this.
