Ranch Cheddar Burgers

My hubby and I have an understanding, he doesn’t mess with the cooking appliances in the kitchen (he is known to break stovetops…yes glass stove tops), and I stay away from the grills on the patio. He has an affectionate love for his grills – as we have both a gas and a charcoal on the patio. His grilling isn’t limited to the summer months either, as you can easily find him out there, shivering in the snow, tending to our supper. Because of his love for grilling, we are always looking for ways to put a new spin on our favorite classics. The Ranch Cheddar burger adds a hint of ranch along with cheddar inside. Top with an additional slice of cheddar the last minute of cooking for a seriously YUMMY burger!

Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup shredded or cubed cheddar cheese
- 3 Tbsp Ranch Dressing Mix
Directions:
Combine beef, ranch dressing mix and shredded cheddar cheese. Gently shape 6 patties of equal size and thickness. With your thumb, or back of a spoon, make a shallow indentation about 1 inch wide in the center of each patty. This helps that patties to cook evenly. Grill patties over direct high heat with the lid closed as much as possible, until cooked to medium doneness – 8-10 minutes, turning once. Or cook in fry pan on stove top over med- high heat until done. If desired, during the last minute of grilling, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt. Serve warm on hamburger buns with tomatoes, lettuce and ranch dressing.

Making these tonight!
Omigosh these are so good! My whole family devoured them! I used a 1 oz. envelope of ranch dressing powder, and overflowed my 1 cup measure a little bit with the shredded cheddar, and it gave them a fantastic flavor. I think I might add some bacon pieces next time I make them. They were a huge hit. Thank you! I would recommend one thing, though. Use low fat ground beef. I used 93% lean and still had to drain off some fat between cooking each set of patties (on the stove), but the cheese crisps up at the edges and it’s DELICIOUS!

I made these with a twist. I got manager special ground turkey that I used, and silly me grabbed an extra bag of mozzarella instead of cheddar so I used that, still ended up amazing! Probably going to be a meal always on hand :)
