Last month I asked you about to share your thoughts and recipes on appetizer, side dishes and desserts that you serve at Thanksgiving. Now I am interested to see if there are different menu items that you serve for Christmas? As you can see from the October (Thanksgiving) OAMM menu, there is an opportunity for you to be featured as part of the November (Christmas) menu as well.

In our family, a lot of our side dishes are the same. However, the main course turns from turkey to ham. And we stray away from all of the pumpkin and move on to cranberries, cherries, pecans and cookies.

What about for your family. What does your Christmas meal look like? And do you have recipes that you would like to share with the rest of us?

Leave your comments below about what you serve on Christmas Day. As for recipes, if you have posted the recipe on your website, be sure to leave a link below directly to the post. If you don’t have a website be sure to email me the recipe or leave it as a comment below. Recipes submitted do NOT have to be freezer friendly, but obviously freezer friendly recipes will be more likely to be considered for inclusion on the upcoming menu.

In my family Thanksgiving and Christmas meals have always been the same thing, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pies, etc. I have been wanting to mix things up for years, but the rest of the family always ‘squawks’ about it so we end up doing the same old thing. :)

I host Thanksgiving where we always do turkey. However, other relatives host Christmas so the menu is up in the air. Sometimes it’s ham and other years it’s beef or turkey. The sides are pretty much a repeat of Thanksgiving.

The one thing that I always make for Christmas is cookies! I skip the dessert so that I can eat cookies. Typically I start making them around Thanksgiving and stash them in the freezer. By the time December 25 comes around I like to have 6-8 varieties made up. There are a couple must-have varieties, but I’m always looking for new cookie recipes to fill out my cookie spread. I hope you put one or two on the November menu.

Our extended family always has chili on Christmas Eve, with fixings like spaghetti, cheese, and crackers. An elaborate spread of Christmas cookies completed the dinner. An easy, no-stress, crowd-pleasing meal (that can be made and frozen ahead of time)!

Oyster Cracker Munchies always appear at our Christmas family dinner gatherings. It’s just a mix of 1 pkg oyster crackers, 1/2 cup salad oil, 1 pkg ranch salad dressing mix and 2 tsp dill weed. Yummy and really good for munching on!

I like your blog very much. As for as my family christmas meal, we make a big pot of seafood gumbo. The reason we do this is because someone is always dropping by at all times of the day and we just keep it simmering on the stove. The more you simmer, the better the gumbo. Thanks.
