Gifting Strawberry Freezer Jam
Nothing beats fresh strawberry jam on toast – it is my absolute favorite! Freezer jam has the freshness of strawberries that is lacking from traditional jams (though I love those too). Give the gift of a fresh jar of jam this holiday season, or make some for yourself!
Strawberry Freezer Jam
Melissa @ Onceamonthmom.com
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, crushed
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 (1.75 ounce) package dry pectin
- 3/4 cup water
Mix crushed strawberries with sugar, and let stand for 10 minutes. Stir the pectin into the water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, and boil for 1 minute. Stir the boiling water into the strawberries. Stir constantly for three minutes or until sugar is dissolved and no longer grainy. Pouring into freezer safe jars or other freezer safe storage containers. Place tops on the containers, and let sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, place jars into freezer and store until ready to use. Thaw frozen jam in the fridge before using.
The jam can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 weeks or in the freezer for 1 year.
Servings: 5 pints of jam
