Teriyaki Honey Chicken Recipe

Fun fact: Teriyaki Honey Chicken and rice was the first meal I ever cooked for my husband on one of our first dates when we were dating as freshmen in college! I guess he must have liked it, because here we are 10+ years later!
This sweet chicken is still a staple for our family and I especially love that it freezes so well.

Ingredients:
- 4 pieces boneless, skinless, chicken breast or thigh
- .5 cup honey
- .5 cup soy sauce
- .25 cup water
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 2 tsp. minced garlic
- gallon freezer bag
Directions:
In a bowl, combine marinade ingredients. Place chicken in zippered bag. Pour marinade over chicken, seal bag, and let marinate 8 hours. Remove from marinade. Grill chicken until juices run clear. Or to cook in oven, place in a greased baking dish and cover with foil. Bake at 350ºF covered 20-30 minutes. Uncover and bake 20-30 minutes longer or until juices run clear.
Freezing Directions:
Prepare as directed above but instead, place in freezer bag and freeze, no need to marinate in refrigerator. To serve: Thaw if frozen. Remove from marinade. Grill chicken until juices run clear. Or to cook in oven, place in a greased baking dish and cover with foil. Bake at 350ºF covered 20-30 minutes. Uncover and bake 20-30 minutes longer or until juices run clear.

Loved this. I just took it out of the freeze and cooked it in the skillet, no time to thaw and they didn’t want to wait long. Served it over rice with snow peas, shredded carrots and broccoli. It was better than Chinese take out

Shouldn’t you reserve some of the Mainade for basting? Thought once it came in contact with raw meat is wasn’t safe to use due to salmonella.

I made this for my family and it did not turn out looking like the photo. It wasn’t a hit at all…my husband (who will eat anything) said he didn’t like it. I followed the recipe and really wanted it to work out… Is the recipe off because it seemed like the soy sauce over powered everything.

I made this recipe, Teriyaki Honey Chicken, for my family of 7. It was a huge hit! In fact I’m getting ready to do another big cooking day & it is at the top of my list of recipes to make. Thanks for this easy & delicious dish!
Hi! I plan on making this, and just have one question. If I decide to bake, you say: “Bake at 350ºF uncovered 20-30 minutes. Uncover and bake 20-30 minutes longer or until juices run clear.” Did you mean to bake it COVERED for 20-30 minutes and then uncover it and bake for another 20-30? Just want to make sure. Thanks!
Yes typo!
