Think Ahead…Ham savings

Easter Ham

This week, because of Easter, hams will be on sale. If you are making a ham for your family, remember to set aside some ham for your baby. Even if your infant is not eating solids yet or just beginning to, you can cube ham and freeze it for later use. Keep in mind that meats can be frozen up to 6 months in a deep freezer and 3 months in your refrigerator freezer. Then all you will need to do is defrost when you are ready to make a puree. Ham is typically expensive, so making your own puree will not necessarily save you money, but if you are already making it for your family, it is worth it – especially if you can find one on sale this week!

Here is a puree I made Carter this weekend: Ham, Pineapple, Apple and Peach Puree
