Top Ten People Who Blessed Me at Blissdom

Photobucket
I have been wanting to participate in Top Ten Tuesday for some time now but I have to admit that I am just not good at writing Top Ten Lists. However, Oh Amanda is all kinds of sweet so you need to make sure you give her some love and visit her site to see what Top Ten’s she come up with this week (and to read those from other readers). Today will mark my first of many attempts to create a Top Ten. I have spent some time thinking through a few and have some good ones to bring to you courtesy of my time at Blissdom.

Today are the people that blessed me at Blissdom:

1. Kate from Savvy Little Women

Kate is the reason I attended Blissdom this year! As many of you know, I like to decide at the last minute to attend these conferences. I don’t know what it is but that just seems to be what happens. At any rate, Kate was looking for someone to travel and room with and I knew no one. In the midst of that hubby encouraged me to go, and the rest is history.

Kate and I are a funny pair as I am 5′ 2″ and she is 6′. I called her my giant for the weekend for which I am certain she was annoyed. Oh well. She blessed me by keeping me sane, keeping me grounded, cheering me up and watching Tessa when I got ill. She was a great roomie!

2. Jessie from Vanderbilt Wife

You should know by now that we are cousins. And not just your run of the mill cousins. Our families took vacations together each and every year throughout our childhood as part of a larger family tradition (more to come on this in the future). We also have children around the same age and her mother helped to raise me when I was younger which meant that Jessie and I spent lots of time together as kids.

She was a breath of fresh air and a box full of baby clothes this weekend! Woot! She is also co-hosting the Once A Month Mom & DOLE Frozen Fruit Menu Contest which is so exciting.

(Oh, did I also mention that she reminded me constantly that I need to hire an editor! So those of you out there that are horrified by my comma usage should give her a pat on the back. I can’t promise it will improve but I will work on it.)

3. Amy from Amy’s Finer Things

Amy is co-hosting the Once A Month Mom Cook Off this month but I have never “officially” met her. It was such a pleasure to talk to her and discuss exciting plans for this month’s contest. She was so super sweet yet practical and down to earth. And I love kidding her about her rural existence out in “middle of nowhere” Kansas. I love that she can cut up with the best of the them!

sisterchicks4, 5, 6 & 7. – The Sisterchicks (aka Mandi, Becky, Stacie & Amanda)

These girls have been tweeting and retweeting me for months now, that is how I originally got to “know” them. (Hint: If you would like to get to “know” me more, try tweeting me now and again, it works!) I was so pleasantly surprised when they were at the conference. I LOVE meeting readers. They are the sweetest women you will ever meet. They made me laugh, they made me cry (tears of joy) and they helped me with extra hands to take care of Tessa. You should definitely go check out each and every one of their websites. (Especially Becky‘s as she really could use some internetz love and encouragement).

8. Katie from Domestic Debacle

This girl is just funny. You know, in the “I can’t help but laugh because she is so crazy” kind of way. And I am pretty sure that is the highest compliment you can give Katie as she personifies “life is about having fun”. The cutest thing about her is that her wardrobe and her personality TOTALLY match her blog caricature. It is pure genius! She loved on Tessa frequently and constantly whispered words of encouragement and affirmation in my ear throughout the week. I am so blessed that she lives in the area and I can’t wait to do some blog projects with her in the future!

9. Christine

Christine was regularly hanging out with the Sisterchicks which is how I first met her at Blissdom. I quickly put two and two together to discover that Christine also was a guest poster for Once A Month Mom while I was on maternity leave (thank you). She and her husband work in Nashville with a marriage ministry which automatically gives you extra points in my book. It is so good to hear the stories of others ministry and work for the Lord.

10. Jill from Diaper Diaries

Actually, I should also include Jill’s husband and son but that would send me over 10. See, I told you I was bad at creating Top Ten Lists. We had dinner together the last evening with the Sisterchicks and Christine and some amazing conversation about the Lord, marriage and ministry. I felt truly blessed by the evening.

IMG_4606Oh, and I don’t want to leave out that Jill’s son and Tessa had their first date. Since Tessa was partially conceived from reading Jill’s 1 Corinthians 7:5 Challenge series, they were born only months apart and their moms are bloggers, well, we have decided they should be betrothed to one another. Don’t you think that will make an excellent blog story for them one day? I can see it now “Once A Month Diapers” or “Diaries of a Once A Month Mom” or “Diaries of Once A Month Diapers”. LOL. Okay, I digress. Again.

So those are just a highlight of some great women that blessed me this past weekend. What about you? Who in your life (Blissdom or not) blessed you? I would love to hear.

This post is linked up to Top Ten Tuesday at Oh Amanda.

(Sorry to all of the people in this post I didn’t get pictures with. What was I doing? Oh yea, I was carting around a 7 week old! Sorry!)

**Don’t forget this months ongoing contests in celebration of the Once A Month Mom Blogiversary! There are great prizes to be won!

Thanks for this post which pointed me in the direction of lots of great blogs I hadn’t read before! How do you find time to stay on top of what your blogging-pals are writing? There is so much new content each day I’m finding it a little overwhelming. Also, I can’t believe I’m only just now figuring out what all the fuss is about re: blogging. Talk about a late-bloomer!

I don’t get to read all of them all of the time. I try to choose several a week to focus on. It can definitely be overwhelming at times, especially when you meet so many great people.

  18. You seriously make me cry! I love my Tricia girl! Can’t wait to see you and Tessa again.

  19. It was great to see you again! I’m so behind on blogging about Blissdom, thanks to being snowed out while we were away and then our trip to Disney. :)
