Top Ten Tuesday: Cookbooks Gift Ideas

Well Christmas week is here. Have you finished your shopping? Have you started?

For us, it really is just the ‘tough’ people on our list that we still haven’t bought for. Thank goodness for overnight shipping and last minute sales!

In case you are in the same boat with someone in your life who loves to cook here are a few more ideas. As if I haven’t supplied with you enough from these lists:

If you aren’t going to have the cookbook on hand to give in person because you have waited to long *cough* *cough* perhaps giving one of these pre-order cookbooks would be PERFECT! Then you can blame it on the cookbook authors and not your procrastination!

1. Our Best Bites – Their cookbook comes out in February but the link takes you to the pre-order information BUT they also have a cute little certificate for you print out and give to the recipient! Great cookbook and they literally take care of the procrastination for you. ;)

2. More Make It Fast, Cook It Slow Cookbook – Stephanie O’Dea of a Year of Slow Cooking is at it again with her slow cooker! Really, who can’t get enough slow cooker recipes? I know I can’t. If you are wanting a great book to put in their hands for the actual day, try Make It Fast, Cook It Slow Cookbook that came out last year!

3. $5 Dinner Mom Breakfast and Lunch Cookbook – Again, a cookbook coming out after Christmas but a great gift for the holiday, especially if the cook in your life is on a budget. And if you need a tangible copy to give because that is how you roll, then try the $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook that came out last year.

Okay, now onto the ones that are in print now and NOT coming out after Christmas. Several of these are cookbooks I have had the privelage of reviewing. Several of them are cookbooks I would love to have in my own collection. Either way, I think they are a sure bet for any cook.

4. Mad Hungry – GREAT for the cook in your life that is cooking for boys! It is full of great stories about raising and feeding boys, great ideas for not only your main dish but what to serve with your meal and even some great freezer friendly meals!

5. First Meals by Annabel Karmel – for the cook who is or will be cooking for the little people in her/his life! The are tons of great recipes, how to’s and suggestions for feeding little ones just starting out.

6. Take This Dish and Twist It – I won this cookbook at Blissdom last year and LOVE it. I love looking through at all the great pictures. And the recipes are great twists on old favorites. Perhaps for the adventurous cook in your life that doesn’t like to adventure too far away from the traditional dishes and doesn’t want complicated meal ideas.

7. Perfect One-Dish Dinners – I got this cookbook at Blogher Food and have been antsy to dive into it. With all the hub-bub of the holidays and getting the house ready to sell I just haven’t yet. But it has some amazingly great pictures and recipes!

8. Simply in Season – this was a recommendation from Jill. And since we do things seasonally or monthly in season items I thought you might be interested in it too!

9. OAMM Holiday eCookbook – Like a little self promotion? Well it is is still the holidays and you can still get the plan and make it for Christmas. Or simply gift it to one of your favorite OAMM cooks.

10. What is the must have cookbook on your list this season?

OK. Yum. Not a cook but i still want these!

  2. I am enjoying trying many of the recipes from The Six O’Clock Scramble to the Rescue: Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families.
Easy, fast, yummy — with a little earth-friendliness thrown in. I wish someone would give me some great bread books – like the artisan bread in 5 ones.

  3. Oooh, I would LOVE the Best Bites cookbook! I’m addicted to cookbooks. It’s a problem.

  4. Wonderful list! I’ll check some out that I haven’t heard of, thanks!
