Top Ten Tuesday: Food Bloggers
I just returned from the most AMAZING weekend at Blogher Food. Really. I can’t think of another conference I have attended in my entire life that I enjoyed more than this one! I had great company, made great new friends, attended fabulous sessions, received amazing swag, and well, I could keep going on forever. I will spare you.
But since you all read this blog, I am guessing that you have some interest in food. Whether it be as a means to serve your family, as a form of entertainment or as a new adventure, you are interested in food. So I thought this Tuesday I would take the time to mention some especially amazing food bloggers I met.
These ladies don’t just have food blogs, they have amazing hearts! They are as sincere and encouraging in person as they are on their blogs (and believe me, that isn’t always the case). When I think of these food bloggers I just get all warm and fuzzy inside. And then I get all full inside because they have amazing recipes/pictures to boot. So without further ado. . .
1. Chef Druck – I had only encountered Vanessa a couple of times before deciding to attend this event. Yet, as soon as she knew I was going she asked me to be her roomie. I was so excited to spend some time with her. She is sweet as sweet can be and she is as funny as she is sweet. And did you know that she sings songs to her children in French every night? It is the most amazing moment to witness! Double puffy heart love her!
2. This Week for Dinner – I knew Jane only through a couple mutual emails we were on but other than that had no idea who she was. She is delightful as well. She made me laugh as much as Vanessa. And I’m so excited for her that she is the new chosen editor of Foodpress.com (operated by WordPress). And no, I am not trying to butter her up! She spent enough time with me that no amount of buttery spread is going to erase the impression I left. . .he he he.
3. Dine & Dish – I met Kristen randomly when she made a call at Blogher for someone to share a tour of the city with her. I was so glad I did. We didn’t get our trolley ride in while in San Francisco but I am sure that is because she was busy making sure that she was meeting and introducing others to each other. She has to be the BEST person I know at making sure that people get introduced to each other.
4. A Year of Slow Cooking – Stephanie, dear, dear Stephanie. She has a laugh that sets a room on fire with joy and a giving heart that she rarely contains. In my blogging experience she has been the most encouraging and resourceful blogger I have ever had the privilege to run across. I felt like we had been friends forever despite the fact we have only ever shared a couple emails and tweets.
5. Le Pomme De Portland – Carrie. I met Carrie for the first time this weekend. She is super sweet, uber-talented and someone you can sit and chat with for hours. Which I did. I think I might have to find an excuse to visit Portland just so I can see her again!
6. What’s Cooking? – Few people made me giggle like a junior high girl like Michelle. She was super funny and we shared many an inside giggle. Let’s just say she is my Twitter DM buddy! She also has an amazing site and outreach teaching kids to cook!
7. Cheeky Attitude – First of all, she has the coolest name ever and it is spelled right – Tricia! I met her the first night and spent hours talking to her as well as Carrie. There is nothing I love more than an intimate dinner with newly made food friends!
8. Strawberry Cake – Yes, I am still allergic to strawberries! Luckily, she wasn’t forcing them down my throat and I didn’t need an epi-pen to carry her business card.
She is absolutely delightful and friendly as can be. I can’t wait to schedule a trip to crash at Jill’s so I can run into her again.
9. Cookin’ Canuck – I met Dara at a dinner on Friday night and was immediately blown away by her food knowledge. Actually, it was the food knowledge, but also the passion in which she talked about it. She was explaining some dishes on the menu to us and as she spoke I was drawn in and hungry. It made me want to go read her blog from start to finish! Okay, I might not have that much time, but I can’t wait to read some of her recipes if they are as half as tantalizing as her conversations.
10. Add a Pinch – I met her randomly the first day at lunch because it turns out she is friends with Kristen from Dine and Dish. I was excited to learn that she lives in the Atlanta area, home of the 2010 Tweet-Up. I mentioned the event, the trip and a little more but we didn’t really have time to talk much at lunch. However, she made it a point to find me later in the weekend to ask me more details. So sweet. And after visiting her blog I am so excited about the resources it provides.
Okay, there were a LOT more food bloggers that I will be introducing you to over the coming weeks and months. I just wanted you to know the 10 that stole my heart as well as my stomach. So take a moment and give them some bloggy love. I am sure you will find a recipe or two along the way as well.
