Top Ten Tuesday: Top Public Relations (PR) People that Stand Out!
Last week I spent time sharing with you the Top Ten ways that PR people Stand Out! I have gotten some great feedback from that post, both here and on Twitter. It seems that PR people like to be recognized too! Imagine that!
Well, this week I promised that I was going to bring you a list of the Top Ten Public Relations (PR) People that I have worked with in the past. That isn’t to say that there aren’t other ones that I have worked with that have been good, but these folks came to my mind first thing when I thought about good examples of public relations folks.
I tell you this not so that you can start hounding them for goods yourself, or so they think I am buttering them up, nor to bestow them a great reward. But because I think that the companies they represent (whether it is a PR firm or a brand) should be extremely proud and know that they are getting their money’s worth when hiring these fine individuals. Because if I owned a brand (well, one that made money), these are the people I would want representing my company!
10. Shannan Boyer – she recently left her full-time PR firm to a position at The Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center. And boy, I will miss her in her previous role. She is great to work with, fun, energetic and motivated. That woman always has something going on!
9. Jessica Langsen of Edelman – full of energy, quick to respond and willing to share and create with you alike. I have had nothing but great experiences working with her on past projects.
8. Christina Karas of Thunder::Tech – I just met Christina this summer but she has done a great job of keeping in touch with me and feeding my obsession with Cedar Point. Of course, it does help her that she represents my favorite place on earth!
7. George G. Smith, Jr – what a personable guy. I really haven’t kept up with George since he left his last position but I should really do that more. And what a loss for that company!
6. The M.Booth Team for eBay Classifieds (at least the ones I have worked first hand with) – Alyssa, Andrea & Andrea – These folks do a great job with what they do. Always so friendly and personable. Always timely on their responses. And always up for a great conversation about how to make a brand work with a blog, or vice versa.
5. Megan McKean of MS&L Worldwide – I haven’t had the privilege of working with Megan recently but none-the-less she has stuck out in my mind as a PR person I wish I got to work with more often. She does a great job of communicating, loves hearing new ideas and is willing to answer my million and one questions.
4. Melissa Wood of Bravado Designs – I have been most impressed with the personal touch and approachability of Melissa. She doesn’t just care about me reviewing her companies product as much as she cares about my experience as a customer. When something wasn’t “just right” she was right on top of fixing it and getting me the thing that would best suit me. She is personable and friendly and always approachable when it comes to new ideas and suggestions.
3. Sarah Moses of The Rogers Group – I have worked with Sarah on several projects and they haven’t always been easy. There have been quick deadlines and crazy turn around times and she has always come through for me and stayed absolutely on top of what was happening.
2. Abby Penich of ConAgra Foods – I met Abby at Blissdom this past year. What stood out first and foremost? Her and her staff (part of which was from Ketchum) wanting to snuggle with little Tessa. They did me a little favor and even took her off my tired shoulders for a few moments. So to say Abby is personable and approachable is an understatement!
1. Emily & Cooper of TheMotherhood.com – I put them together because they are a team. And they are a team in a way I have rarely seen two people be able to pull off a team! I would likely bend over backwards and attempt a hand stand for these ladies if they asked me too. Not because they pay me big or they send me lots of free stuff or send me to conferences. BUT because they are so encouraging, they are so timely in their responses and because it is clear that they are looking for VOICE over numbers.
Who have YOU worked with that stands out above all the rest? Give them a shout out below and make sure they know you appreciate them.

What a nice post to start my day with! Thanks Tricia- it’s been a pleasure working with you too!
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Shannan, George and Christina, and let me just say I could not agree with you more! They are FANTASTIC.
Awww – I’m blushing.
Thanks a lot. It means a lot to me!
I have the pleasure of working with Megan McKean on a daily basis (she is on my team). She is a true gem. Thank you for including her in your top 10. You made her and my day. Thanks!
George is so fun!! And Emily and Cooper? I just feel famous and happy knowing them! Lovely ladies.
What a very nice post, Tricia!
Tricia! This rocks. Thank you so much for including me and Cedar Point in your list. Read this on the bus this morning – what a great way to start a jam-packed day.
And, thanks to Emily too for agreeing.
Thanks, Tricia! I’ve really enjoyed working with you, too!
What a great list, Tricia! I’ve also had the pleasure of working with many of the PR professionals on the list. I would have to agree with you on the hand stand reference. You can tell they want us to succeed as much as their own campaign. That’s a true rarity!
