Are you a person that likes to see the menus visually? Perhaps you should check out the November 2012 Traditional Menu via Pinterest to see the yummy goodness you will be cooking up on this menu. Not sure what Pinterest is all about, check out what Once A Month Mom has to say about it.

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • Heather Allen: Freezer cooking veteran of 8 years, resource to several freezer cooking groups in my city. Work full time from home as a Nurse Auditor. Wife of 25 years and mom to 3 VERY hungry teen and preteen boys!
  • Danielle Krahl: Danielle is a stay-at-home Mom with 4 kids. She is very involved in Scouts. In their free time, her family likes to camp, bike, garden and explore new parks.

Get Started

Are you new to Once A Month Mom or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

The pork chops and cranberry stuffing links to pork chops and cornbread stuffing.

  2. Erin says:

Hey! I just went to the link for the Porkchops and Cranberry Stuffing and its for Porkchops and Cornbread stuffing…no cranberries involved!lol Just thought I’d let you know.

    • katie says:

Hey Erin, that’s because the cranberries are my special touch. :) The recipe cards will have the changes in them for you.

  3. Leigh Ann Hicks says:

For the Pork Chops/Cranberry recipe, my ratio for stuffing mix to water came out to 2.25 c stuffing / 10.5 c water. That seems like a lot of water! I used 6 as my serving size. Is this ratio correct?

    • katie says:

We’ll check on the formula. In the meantime, you can follow the directions on the back of the stuffing box for water ratios and that should work as well.

  4. Britani DeFoe says:

So I just tried to download the grocery list and I get an error saying that my computer can’t open it as the file is damaged and may have been modified from the original. I’ve never had this issue before! Anyone else having this problem?

  5. Breanna Suhoversnik says:

When you cook the ground beef & chicken in the slow cooker, do you advise thawing first or cooking from frozen? Thank you!

  6. Breanna Suhoversnik says:

okay, thank you … this is my first month of really doing the whole menu and I feel like a rookie! I’m looking over the instructions and I’m confused. WHat meals are the beef & chicked for that we’re cooking overnight in the slowcookers?

    • Kelly says:

If you read through the instruction cards you’ll see cooked beef and chicken as ingredients, like in the cheeseburger puffs, chicken mac and cheese etc.

  7. Jacqueline Bertsch says:

I’m brand new to using this site, so I may be missing something, but I’m looking for the nutritional content of each of the recipes. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  8. Jennifer Sabin says:

Curious, was something changed about your upload format of your labels? I was able to download other months, but this new one is giving me a zip file for download with no document(except for the blank one which comes up as a pdf).

    • katie says:

Yes, we moved to Word documents this month. Do you have Word? Let me know- I can upload in pdf form as well if it’s still a problem.

  9. Abby Deras says:

For the pork chops and cranberry stuffing, should we use fresh cranberries or dried cranberries? Btw, this is my 4th month of once a month cooking, and I can’t imagine doing it any other way!!

    • katie says:

Abby, I used dried cranberries in mine when I made it about a month ago but that’s just because the fresh weren’t out yet. Either should work fine. And glad you love it- I felt the same way after my first month!

  10. Lisa Herbert says:

I am also having trouble with getting the labels to print for the November traditional and Mini menus. When I click on it, it just comes up with lines of letters and question marks. The blank labels print fine. Is there something else I need to do? I’m on a MAC.

    • Tricia says:

Other readers have reported the same when using Firefox. No matter what browser you are using, try using a different one and see if that doesn’t help.

  11. Sara Sherrick says:

I also can’t print the labels for the traditional menu. My browser is internet explorer. I believe it has something to do with it being uploaded as zip format. Anway you can help us out? PDF maybe?

  12. Lea says:

I’m new to this and it looks great and a resource I’m certainly going to use! :)

I was wondering how does meal planning out of the menu works?
I mean there are 30 dinners and lunches in a month but 4 lunches and 8 dinners in the menu. Does that mean I have to repeat one meal many times in a month, like eating the same meal 4-5 times in a months?
And the day I choose to eat one meal or another is up to me right?

  13. Christine Andrews says:

tried to make the pork chop recipe but I’m pretty sure that the recipe is wrong. The water ended up being too much.

  14. Amber Whisenand says:

Hi there…I also made the pork chops this month & there was way too much water for the stuffing. Have you guys corrected it? I would like to try to make the stuffing the day of cooking the pork chops. Thank you.
