Tricia’s Pregnancy Update | OAMC from Once A Month Mom

Tricia’s Pregnancy Update

Well folks, I am out of the first trimester already. It is really hard to believe but it is true. I am actually almost 13 weeks along now. I really haven’t written much about my pregnancy because I don’t necessarily want to inundate you with information but I thought it might be helpful to you as a reader to know some things that have been happening and how that has reflected onto this blog. (For those of you that could care less, this is where you want to stop reading).

With my first child I had nausea from week 2 until 14, consistently. So I expected close to the same or worse with this pregnancy. This pregnancy has actually been better overall, thus far, but has had its extreme moments. I actually felt great until the 8th week when I had several serious bouts of nausea, headaches, and all that other stuff that goes with it. Two of these three episodes landed me in emergency rooms to get IV fluids and testing. The second visit turned up a secondary infection that was likely compounding my symptoms. And since I was already pregnant, I just attributed the symptoms to pregnancy not even considering that something else was happening.

So I got my fill of Zofran (God’s miracle drug for pregnancy nausea) and an antibiotic and went on my way. I have had a lot of random nausea that comes and goes just as quickly. I have had a couple other serious episodes all of which seem to be when we have plans to travel. My conclusion in all of this is that this new baby is an introvert that prefers to stay at home.

Overall, considering that I am chasing after a 9.5 month old. I think that things are going well. I am obviously tired. And like my first pregnancy I have very little desire to cook. Or eat for that matter. And when I am hungry and finally decide what sounds good I want it 15 minutes ago. I have no patience for cooking it. So we have eaten out a lot. And we have given away a lot of Once A Month Mom meals as I can’t bring myself to cook them. That is also why I didn’t do the May menu. The baby just didn’t seem to be able to handle it. :)

I should also mention that I haven’t been able to eat red meat. Not once. So chicken and potatoes have been a regular staple around our home. I love some starch when I am pregnant!

Well, I think that about sums it up for me. I am still working on bringing you the monthly menus, whether I feel like cooking them or not. I am still cooking up some of the recipes myself as I really am interested in the menu items I choose. I also hope that you will be patient as some days I don’t feel up to writing and things around here aren’t as consistent as they use to be. I promise to keep in touch and to provide you with great content whenever I can.

Thanks for being a loyal reader. (I’ll post some pictures of how we are coming along as things begin to “show”)

I’m 35 weeks with my second so I feel your pain. I could not eat most meat my first trimester. I literally lived off eggs, cheese, and peanut butter for a few months. Hang in there, your desire to cook will be back soon.

Thanks for the update, Tricia. I hope things improve now that you are in your 2nd trimester. I couldn’t eat pork, no matter how I cooked it, with my 1st child (a boy), but had no food aversions with my 2n (a girl). Wonder if it was the gender thing…?

I’m 31 weeks with Baby2.0 (currently chasing an almost 16 month old… so my babes will be close in age as well). Glad to hear that (overall) this pregnancy isn’t going too badly! I haven’t been able to make a month of meals yet – but I’m hoping to do it once before the baby comes so that we’ve got a great stash in the freezer!

Crazy!! Zofran is the nausea drug they give my husband for his chemo!! and I can’t stand red meat and I’m not even pregnant!! hahaha

Ugh! I can’t believe I’m the last to find out!!!!!

  6. I was exactly the opposite with Libbie–I could not touch chicken with a 9-ft pole. Subsisted entirely on red meat and veggies.
