Using Google Docs

The Grocery list, recipes, and much more for each month are done in Google Docs. If you have never used Google Docs, you may want to take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the software. The great feature of Google Docs is that it is FREE and allows us to share many different formatted files (documents, spreadsheets, etc) without having to purchase programs like Microsoft Word. That, and no matter what software or platform you are using, you can utilize the resources.

Saving Google Docs

Here are steps to save the SPREADSHEET files (Menus, Grocery Lists, Recipe Cards) to your computer or personal Google Docs page:

Instructions for if you own Excel or Word on your computer:

1. Click on Google Docs Links to open each in a new window
2. File => Download As => EXCEL
3. Save in your personal folder on your computer

The file will now be accessible in Excel on your home system (just remember where you saved it).

Here are steps to save the DOCUMENTS files to your computer or personal Google Docs page:

1. Click on Google Docs Links to open each in a new window.
2. File => Download File As => Word (or Text)
2. Save in your personal folder on your computer.

If you do not have Excel (like me) and want to utilize Google Docs to create/edit files, still follow the steps above and then:

Spreadsheets

(You may want to do this if you are creating your own grocery list or making adjustments to the menu or the grocery list).

  1. Click on the Google Spreadsheet Link to open.
  2. Once open, Log-in to Google Documents (it’s easy to register as a new user!)
  3. Choose File => Make A Copy
  4. Rename the new file.

Instructions

  1. Click on the Google Spreadsheet Link to open.
  2. Once open, Log-in to Google Documents (it’s easy to register as a new user!)
  3. Choose File => Save As New Copy

Your personal files will now be available to utilize in Google Docs too!

      You may want to try a different browser to see if that helps. It might just be that Google is having issues at that time too. Not sure. Let me know via my contact form if you continue to have problems and which month you are looking at and I will try to help you. So sorry.

    Wanted to try this once a month cooking. I was able to print the recipes, but when I go to print the grocery list it takes me to Google Docs. There is nothing to print. What’s up with this.
