Summertime….in the city, baby! Or in the small town, either way :) I absolutely love summer because of the bountiful harvest of fruits and veggies coming to us at our local farmer’s markets and through our CSA box. Yum! How perfect are all these lush Summer berries for a snack, or a meal? This month, I’m so excited about our Blueberry Quinoa SconesLime Yogurt Muffins and Pear Oatmeal. And that’s just breakfast! Dinner is full of awesome treats, too, like Vegan “Meat and Potatoes” (portabella ‘steaks’) and Take-Out Fake-Out Vegan Orange Chicken.

For a detailed explanation of what is involved in creating the vegetarian menu we have a post explaining it all. If you are new and not sure how to get started we have a wonderful series starting with 5 easy steps to get you on your way to once a month cooking. Good luck!

Are you a person that likes to see the menus visually? Perhaps you should check out the July 2012 Vegetarian Menu via Pinterest to see the yummy goodness you will be cooking up on this menu. Not sure what Pinterest is all about, check out what Once A Month Mom has to say about it.

  • Link will come available to the July 2012 Vegetarian OAMM Menu later in the day on July 1st or 2nd.

Test Cooks

Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:

  • LeShandra Shephard - I am a mom of three, work full-time during school year, but stay at home in summer. I love to eat REAL foods and show my family that eating healthy can be so much fun!

Get Started

Are you new to Once A Month Mom or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

If you are feeling abundantly blessed and generous feel free to donate. :) And don’t forget you can always go back and use July 2011‘s menu if you are looking for something different!

I was heading out to grocery shop off the list when I decided to read the recipes. I am working on the grocery list for July 2012 and the recipe cards for July 2012 the vegetarian versions.

The recipes call for items not on the grocery list – for example cucumbers, portabello mushrooms and macadamia nuts.

Is there a revised grocery list file I should be using? I don’t want to buy all the items on this grocery list and not be able to make the recipes.

I took a look at the documents linked here and it looks right to me. Can you give it one more look? If you still see a problem could you paste the link URL here so I might see what you are seeing?

Am I missing something? Couldn’t see the recipe card for the Cucumber Avocado soup. No problem, I took the info from the original source. Made me think a bit and do my own math. :)

Made a whole foods vegan version of the squash corn chowder for dinner tonight- we used coconut milk and no bacon. We had zucchini so we used that and cubed Potatoes and shredded carrots and leeks. It was so good!
