Are you a person that likes to see the menus visually? Perhaps you should check out the March 2013 Vegetarian Menu via Pinterest to see the yummy goodness you will be cooking up on this menu. Not sure what Pinterest is all about, check out what Once A Month Mom has to say about it.
Test Cooks
Each month we have some wonderful volunteers who “test” out the menu prior to publication. They do an amazing job of helping to eliminate confusion and mistakes. They may not catch everything but they sure do catch A LOT! If you are interested in test cook, feel free to volunteer. Here is a little bit about this month’s test cooks:
- Jamie Clayton – I am a licensed physical therapist. In December 2010, pregnant with baby #3, I quit my job to stay home with my kids. My family adopted a vegetarian diet in early 2010. I now write a vegetarian cooking blog www.thriftyveggiemama.com. In addition to cooking I also really enjoy running, reading, and have started sewing.
Get Started
Are you new to Once A Month Mom or once a month cooking (oamc) in general? If so, you might want to spend a few minutes (or hours) on the Get Started Series. If you are in a real hurry to catch on we have written some simple steps for getting started. Welcome!

Fish sauce??? Isn’t exactly vegetarian. You can however find vegetarian fish sauce at a larger asian market or online. I’m pretty sure you sub in mirin + soy sauce and possibly lime juice to achieve the same salty zippy zing from fish sauce.
Cameron– Thanks for pointing that out! I use vegetarian fish sauce, but should have clarified that in the ingredients. The recipe should now reflect that. I purchase mine at a smaller Vietnamese grocery store in town, so I’d think that it would be readily available at most Asian grocery stores or even in the Asian section of the grocery store. Thanks again!
Hello,
Just wondering… You have the Traditional menu, the Whole Foods menu, the Gluten Free menu, the Paleo menu, the Vegetarian menu… Etc. How about a Vegan menu? You’re got everything for the meat eater, and for the no-meat-but-eggs-and-milk eater, but how about the herbivores out there?
A Vegan menu… THAT would get me to subscribe!
We have some mini menus that are vegan and can be found under our mini menus tab. I will be honest, one of the reasons it hasn’t surfaced yet is because there has been little interest in the vegan mini menus we have created. We do like to hear feedback such as this and this is how a new menu gets born. So we will note your interest and will keep an eye out for interest in the same.
Hi there- I just completed my first monthly cooking day (Veg menu) and am really excited about trying everything! We had the Peanut Butter Satay tonight; it was delicious! I was just wondering if there is any place on the website that lists the nutritional information for the recipes. If not, could you tell me where to find it?
I’m so happy to hear that you had a great experience. At this time our Diet menu is our only menu with nutritional information on our cards. However we are looking to provide it for all our menus in the near future. In the meantime you can use the calculator we like to use here http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php
